Launch team update #1 (Welcome! Podcast and launch news)
Sep 20, 2024 3:05 pm
Hi !
This is the first update you're receiving as a member of my Launch Team!
I'm planning on sending something weekly-ish. If you get sick of the updates, you can hit "unsubscribe" at the bottom and it won't affect your access to the other freebies I've promised you.
So, what's going on?
The response has been mega, and I'm excited to have a group to share news with (and kind of use to hold myself accountable too). I much prefer the writing to the promotion, so knowing I need to share things with you will force me to make things happen!
Right now, there are a few things going on:
1. Preparing for the "official" launch announcement
Right now, you're one of very few people who knows the title of the book or anything about it.
(BTW, if you've lost the link to the free chapter you can find it here.)
I'm planning to keep building the launch team until the end of September, then "go public" with pre-orders at some point in October.
To make that happen, I'm getting a mini-website built for the book and working with Penguin to finalise the blurb for the back cover, etc etc.
If you know anyone who'd like to join the launch team and get updates like this before I close it, you can send them here.
2. Doing my first interview about the book
You probably know Damien Talks Money's YouTube channel, and he also has a podcast called Making Money.
He invited me onto the show, so I popped over to West London to record that on Wednesday. He and his co-host are lovely but annoyingly tall (I swear I'm only just shy of 6ft but I look tiny):
Ideally I wouldn't have wanted this to be my first, because it's a big show and I haven't had any "warm-ups" to get fluent at talking about the ideas in the book. But I had to fit in with their production schedule, and it went really well.
They're holding it back to January to coincide with the launch, so I'll share a link when it comes out.
(Fun aside: While I was there I bumped into Andrew Craig, author of How To Own The World, who'd been recording with them just before me. He's also annoyingly tall. But very nice – and I interviewed him here last year if you want to check that out.)
3. Actually I'll hold off this last one
I want to keep these updates short and skimmable, and I've already gone on too long so I'll keep the rest of the news for next week.
Thank you so much for being part of the team! I've enjoyed writing this and I'm already looking forward to updating you again next week.
Any questions or anything I can help with in the meantime, you know where I am.
Thanks!
Rob
