Launch team update #9: Quotes, competitions and artwork
Nov 22, 2024 1:36 pm
Hi – it's time for another book update!
(As a reminder: I'm planning on sending these updates weekly-ish. If you get sick of them, you can hit "unsubscribe" at the bottom and it won't affect your access to the other freebies I've promised you.)
The final(ish) cover!
I said last week that I'd be able to show you the final book jacket this week. That's mildly untrue, because this is the ALMOST final artwork:
We're swapping out the photo of me for another one (bound to be make-or-break for the book's success), and tweaking a few words.
But otherwise, it's done – and we should have final copies to look at in the next few weeks.
Competition time
As well as all the pre-order bonuses I'm offering, I've also decided to run a competition where 5 people picked at random will get a one-to-one strategy call with me.
I'll be mentioning this in various places, so just wanted to let you know: as you're on the launch team you're already entered for this, so there's nothing you need to do.
In fact, I'm going to do another 2 calls that are ONLY for people on the launch team – so you have two chances of winning!
(Describing a call with me as "winning" seems way too egotistical and there are many people who'd pay to avoid such a fate, but hopefully you take it the right way!)
Another great quote
You'll probably know Andrew Craig from his classic book "How To Own The World".
I loved that book, so it was a good day when this quote from him landed in my inbox:
"A very important book . . . All too many millions of us are sleep-walking towards a worryingly impoverished future. Reading Seven Myths About Money will go some way to helping you avoid suffering that fate."
By the way, a lot of people over the years have asked me to write a book to help their kids get a head-start learning about this stuff. Well now I don't need to, because Andrew has: he's just finished a special "for teens" version of How To Own The World.
I don't know when it's coming out, but I'll share more in my newsletter when I find out because I'm sure lots of people will be interested.
That awkward lull
This feels like a weird time in the life of the book.
It's written, and there's nothing I can do to change it.
We've had the big hoopla of announcing the details.
But there's no point going wild promoting it until the other side of Christmas, because the holidays will create a natural lull and no-one is in "buying money books" mode in December.
It's totally normal to have a lull in the middle (whenever you sell anything, most sales come at the very start and the very end) but it still feels odd because I've never done a "proper" pre-order campaign of this length before.
Still: I'm trying to enjoy it being a bit quieter, and save some energy for January!
That's it for now!
As a result of the lull, I might not send an update next week: I'll tell you if there's something interesting going on, but won't clog up your inbox unnecessarily.
Thank you again for your support, and do please spread the word!
If you know anyone who might want to pre-order and snag all the bonuses I'm offering, send them here.
Thanks!
Rob
