Dear Disc Golfers,

Last Year's Bash
Last year's tournament was a huge success! We played a super challenging extended Snowbowl course. We tested Thorpe XL against some of the region's biggest arms and saw some of the hottest scores ever posted there. Finally, we threw down on 22 holes at Fort Tuthill where Championship Sunday nerves tempered the birdie fest we thought we might see in all divisions. We raised lots of money through an uncashed ace fund and a doubles fundraiser for the Hopi Education Endowment Fund. And we had a huge raffle with awesome prizes.
Tournament Staff
I'm excited to introduce you to your tournament directors for the 25th Anniversary Aspen Sports Treebash taking place on May 5-7, 2023.
We met over dinner, throwing out ideas, reminding ourselves of things we could do better from last year, and incorporating feedback. Tony made Nick and I some pasta with homemade red pepper sauce and that's when I knew it was going to be a special year.
Women's Experience
As a first time tournament director last year, I learned a lot about the progress we need to make as tournament directors to support women playing our tournaments. Courses need to be designed with open women's play in mind. This year, I'm putting significant effort into prioritizing the experience for our ladies.
A-Tier This Year
This year we have the privilege and the responsibility of restoring Treebash's A-Tier status. This means the courses will be very challenging for all divisions and added cash will draw talent from all over. We are hoping that the May 5-7 dates (happening during the week in between Jonesboro and the OTB open in California) will draw some touring pros. If you know anyone on tour, please get this message in their ear. Registration is already open for 1000+ rated men and for all ladies. (Here is a PDF letter to share with players who might be interested.)
What Courses Will We Play?
This year, we'll be playing Thorpe Park, McPherson Park, and Little America's short and longs (if all goes according to plan). Please expect changes. As much as possible, we'll be trying to get the age-protected divisions playing layouts similar (if not equal) to what they'll be playing during the PDGA Masters World Championships later next year.
Hole Sponsorships
On December 23rd at 8pm MT, 18 hole sponsorships become available on the tournament registration website. Please direct any questions to the Comments section of the Disc Golf Scene website so that others can benefit from the Q&A that happens there.
Please expect more information in the New Year. In the meantime, enjoy your holiday season!
Best,
Mason, Nick, and Tony
