Summers are always busy at the riding stable ~ family ranch between horse camp, riding lessons, birthday parties, and horse leasing. The horses love the opportunity to see the kiddos and the carrots. Or else the carrots and then the kiddos! In addition, I’m also writing a lot.

Kindred Spirits, the fifth book in the Baker City Hearts and Haunts series will be out soon. Trading in her camos and combat boots for jeans and cowgirl boots, Debbie Ramsey bought Miracle Riding Stable outside of town from Mindy MacGillicudy and is ready to have a riding good time. It’s wonderful having the opportunity to connect with old friends, alive and dead in that town. Merry Ghostmas, a Christmas novella set in Baker City will be out in time for the

holidays.

Writing books is only part of the process for any author. I’m finishing up edits on both of those, plus plotting Writing Down the Bones, the next in the series. What happens when famous romance author, Mac MacGillicudy inherits part of the original MacGillicudy home, once the first hotel in town? He not only has to deal with his “muse” a ghost he picked up in his travels, but also with his cousins, one of whom wants to “flip” and sell the hotel and another who wants

to restore it to its historical glory.

I’m continuing to write the next book in the Liberty Valley Love series. Kitchen Witch, is the story of Meteor Jamison, the shapeshifter who operates a bakery and catering operation in Eagleville around her witchy duties with her two sisters. Astra, her oldest sister was the heroine of Time In Between.

I’m looking forward to attending street fairs and festivals to sell books in person. That’s still a wonderful adventure after staying home for two years.

So, how is your summer? What are you doing? Is it as exciting as mine?

It’s much more fun to write about cleaning the barn than actually shoveling out the stalls. Of course, when everything is done, I try to write for an hour or two, but only if I’m not totally exhausted. When I am, I curl up with the cat in the recliner and try to stay awake long enough to watch the news. It doesn’t always work. Sometimes, I have to wake up so I can go to bed.

July Book Recommendation

I really liked the storyline, and I thought that it was quite original, and the characters were very believable. The fact that Trace had to spend her life hiding her identity, by pretending to be a man reminded me of women doing the same during the civil war. The Historical references were very enlightening, and I was glad at the end when Trace and Zeb worked out their differences. I hope that I will see more of these characters in future books, and I was disappointed that the story ended so soon. What Happens Next?
