It's more than 'just' an elbow (Reply by Wednesday)

Hi
Let’s talk about those moments that make you lean forward in your chair - the “Wait, how did I not know this…?” ones.
Like when you suddenly realize how important elbow extension really is!
You know... parents are always telling you that their child can't straighten their arms. And then Mary Massery seems to always teaching about the importance of straight arms for activating the diaphragm, and you know those straight elbows are going to count when it comes to crawling, or transfers, or using a walker.
But have you really being paying attention to the elbows? Those simple hinge joints stuck between the multi-directional shoulder and multi-faceted hand?
Sometimes simple is where the magic is!
Did you know you could unlock a shoulder, improve head control, or turn a “stuck” kiddo into a little moving machine by focusing first on the elbow?
Michael Workman (PT, Bamboo Brace designer, and neurodevelopmental geek with 30 years of floor-time wisdom) is joining me this week for a WiredOn Interview. And I've been blown away by what he has to say about such a seemingly simple wearable device for such a seemingly simple joint.
If you're a therapists who sees the elbows as gateways to whole-body potential, you're going to love what Michael has to say!
We'll tackle how dynamic upper limb bracing can impact proximal control, improve self-regulation and even boost motor learning!
And if you're a therapist whose
- ever tried bracing an elbow,
- thought about the elbow as more than just a hinge between two complex joints, or
- dabbled in the idea of what it takes to bring a therapy product to market,
then this interview is for you.
Drop your questions in the Wired Questions box and help shape this interview.
But hurry, they'll need to be in BEFORE THURSDAY to make it into the interview.
You can do it anonymously if you have the kind of burning question you’d prefer to whisper to a trusted mentor over a cup of chai.
Maybe it’s…
- “How do I convince parents that more time on the floor is needed before we work on first steps?”
- “Why is open-chain play activity important for kids who hate prone?”
- “Help—my brace keeps slipping - what am I doing wrong?”
or even
- "I've got an idea I'd love to develop and share with others - what advice do you have about launching a therapy product?"
We’d love to weave your curios questions into the interview so we can double down on clinician-to-clinician truth, the kind that leaves your toolkit heavier and your heart lighter.

With so much enthusiasm for the messy reality of clinical life,
