Christmas has come and gone and New Year celebrations are past... My new year's wish is that we will see some much-needed peace and humanity arrive on our troubled earth.

This is my BIG year, when my Bookouture series will actually hit the market. After many years of countless mainstream rejections - if they still came as paper documents, I could, as they say, wallpaper the bathroom with them - I feel that I have achieved a lifetime goal.

I am also creating a memoir for an Irish entrepreneur - a household figure in Ireland and beyond, which is going to take up a lot of my time for a few months. The man in question won't use the term ghost writer. In his words, 'You can't do what I have done, but I can't do what you do,' so I will be recognised as a 'collaborator' for the work. Cool, eh?

I will be sending out a brief email in mid-January when 'The Irish Key' is up for pre-order, in the hopes that some of you loyal supporters will provide a little kickstart...

The second book in this Bookouture women's fiction series has been read and approved. The editor said, 'Well! That was SUCH a treat to read - a real transporter of a novel, a gripping, beautiful, totally immersive story. Well done! All my very best, and huge congratulations…' She then proceeded to provide a fairly intensive editorial commentary on tweaks that would just help (in her words) to keep the bar high!

And the cover for the first book will no doubt set the trend for the series:

I don't have time to read every book that comes via a book funnel, or a 'swap' promotion with another author, so if you get a sample, a badly written book, or anything else that you find irritating, let the author know, by way of a review; don't shoot the messenger! But if you discover an exceptionally good book, let me know so that I can read it, too...
