Onward and Upward Newsletter - March 2023
Mar 14, 2023 3:08 pm
Hi,
I apologise for the delay in sending this month's newsletter. I was away in England for a family funeral, and had a two-day break in the Porlock Weir Hotel, in a stunning room with a view out over the sea. A cut above my usual accommodation.
Then I got a horrid cold (with an annoying tickly cough), and the ferry to Ireland was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions... The journey back, therefor was tiring. But I'm back at home in Ireland looking forward to spring. My bird feeders are alive with small garden birds feeding themselves up for breeding.
AUTHORLY NEWS
Rather than start a new story I embarked on a personal memoir. I haven't a clue if anyone will be interested in it, but maybe in a hundred years, life back in the 1970s will seem archaic and strange.
The Silence of Children is discounted to 99 cents on Amazon at the moment. As always, if you review one of my books online and send me a link to the review, and I'll let you have another book free! But do make sure to tell me which one you would like to read.
The Recovery of Children is now underway. I'll be posting news on progress as I write. I have dithered over the covers... and I think it's time to pay someone professional to do this job. do the covers attract or detract from whether you would buy the book? I'd appreciate honest feedback.

***OTHER AUTHORS' BOOKS***
A well-written, literary historic novel: Faurez weaves a complex plot of intrigue. There are multiple suspects and a fine trail of clues to follow until the surprising ending. Faurez does well with his character’s deductive reasoning and the plausibility of solving crimes with few and, at times, uncooperative witnesses. In terms of a murder mystery, the book satisfies and is an excellent start to a new series. Historically, its setting is immersive. I look forward to what’s next for Sabas and Xandron. Be aware that some of the books below are reader magnets, not full length works. Still, worth checking out...
*** BOOKS FREE OR ON OFFER (mostly) ***
No book funnels this month, but some of the above are free
I don't have time to check every book that comes via a book funnel, or a 'swap' promotion with another author, so if you get a sample, a badly written book, or anything else that you find irritating, let the author know, by way of a review; don't shoot the messenger!
Even if you choose not to take any of the books from the offers, do please click on some links - it would help my 'share' statistics. I have actually been refused entry to some promotions as my share rate isn't high enough. The book funnels are dominated by some very aggressive authors, which says more about their characters than their writing. I admit to being a social mediaphobe, and live in the hope that writing quality beats the ability to bludgeon my way into readers' kindles.
Happy Reading
You have probably received this newsletter because you have accepted one of my books from a promotion. I do hope you wish to continue to follow both my publishing journey, and my storyboards of life here in Ireland, but if not, there is an unsubscribe button below.
