Onward and Upward Newsletter - November 2022
Nov 04, 2022 10:36 am
Hi,
The weather has become a little chilly, wet and windy in Ireland, making up for the unusually warm, dry summer. We have had some massive thunder and lightning storms and leaves are flying from the trees. One of our dogs ran off in the thunder, and luckily found her way back several hours later, cold and wet, no worse for her experience. Our new upstairs 'loo' room is keeping the house chilly, being open into the roof space. Looks good on the outside (left), and a right mess inside (right)! We bought all the insulation, and have filled the external wood framework and the ceiling. We have ceiling boards, we have a door - we just have to get them in before the winter really hits!

AUTHORLY NEWS
The Loyalty of Children is now out with beta readers, who are being amazingly helpful. One of the problems of being an author is that you don't see what you've written, you see what you think you've written... which isn't always the same thing; a fact proved by the many small errors that have been pointed out.
I'm bringing the publication date forward to December, all things being equal, at which point I will blast out another short email, but if you haven't yet, do please go onto Amazon and click the pre-order button. If you have already enjoyed the first two books of the series 'Suffer the Little Children', and feel very generous, pre-ordering 'the Loyalty of Children' on Amazon, will really help with the Amazon rating.
Most self-published authors (including me) don't break even on costs, let alone make a profit, so when you receive a book free, it would be a reciprocal favour to the author to post a review. Anyone who has posted a review for either of the first two, if you email me details, I'll return a link for a free copy of the third book (there is still time...). This series is gradually creeping up in Amazon's charts, and you can help them find success. As I have a concept for a fourth book, it seems likely that this will not stop at the trilogy, after all, despite my initial intention. Here's a reminder of the links:

BOOKOUTRE
I am now well into the psychological thriller for Bookoutre, and hope to finish this before Christmas, at least to beta-reader stage. I haven't found a title for this work yet, so beta readers will get a chance to suggest one. Of course, mainstream publishers are demi-gods. I won't have a say in the title, if they don't like it, or the cover, and they could even change the names of my characters, if they feel it's too similar to something else... but if they take this book, I will bow to their requirements with good grace.
*** BOOKS FREE OR ON OFFER (mostly) ***
I don't have time to check every book that comes via a book funnel, or a 'swap' promotion with another author, so if you get a novella (tip: on Amazon you can page down to the book details to check the page count), a sample, a badly written book, or anything else that you find irritating, let the author know by way of a review; don't shoot the messenger!
Even if you choose not to take any of the books from the offers below, do please click on some links - it would help my 'share' statistics! I have actually been refused entry to some promotions as my share rate isn't high enough. Well, I do admit to being a social mediaphobe and live in the hope that writing quality beats the ability to bludgeon readers with quantity...
Happy Reading
You have probably received this newsletter because you have accepted one of my books from a promotion. I do hope you wish to continue to follow both my publishing journey, and my storyboards of life here in Ireland, but if not, there is an unsubscribe button below.
