Onward and Upward Newsletter - April 2021

Hi,
I hope you are well and happy.
Gale force winds and the occasional deluge have given way to some sunny days, finally. The birds are nesting, tweeting their little hearts out, and eating all the buds off our cherry tree. I've started the veg seeds off in the polytunnel as we have a short growing season, and that will be an ongoing commitment for a month or so - watering & potting on - until my husband takes over and gets the plants into the garden, which he's already started to prepare. He has distributed last year's compost on the beds and obtained a pile of poo from the cowsheds up the road to get a head start with next year's compost. We had a heavy frost the last two mornings, but hopefully in a week or so that will be the end of the cold.
Despite lockdowns etc, my husband managed to get to England to see his mother, who will be 100 years old a month from now. It's a very difficult time for her, to have lived through so much (she worked in London during the war), to simply not be able to see her two sons because of a virus is a sad end to a long life. Her other son lives in New Zealand, and is hoping to travel as soon as the lockdowns are over.
I have managed to get my head around a new piece of software called OpenShot Video, which is open-source, free, and pretty neat. After a few hiccups, I made my first video, using part of the audio book. This is a prototype with huge scope for improvement, so if anyone has ideas, I'm open to suggestion before I do any more. The covers of Night Shadows and Stations of the Soul, incidentally, have now been upgraded with a little help from a professional graphic artist. The rest will follow eventually.

I'm looking to do the same for my other novels, so if you have any review quotes not on Goodreads or Amazon, please email me. And let me know your location, and first name or initials to put against the quotes. Thank you in advance!

I can't vouch for the quality of these books, except for Mad City, which I am reading at the moment. I'm finding it quite engrossing and well written, if you're into futuristic/Sci-fi.
You have received this newsletter because you have accepted one of my books from a promotion. I do hope you wish to continue to follow my publishing journey, and my storyboards of life here in Ireland, but if you wish to unsubscribe, please click the unsubscribe button below.
