Launch team update #8: We have audio!
Nov 15, 2024 12:06 pm
Hi – it's time for another book update!
(As a reminder: I'm planning on sending these updates weekly-ish. If you get sick of them, you can hit "unsubscribe" at the bottom and it won't affect your access to the other freebies I've promised you.)
Adventures in audio
This week I spent two days at Penguin HQ recording the audiobook. My view for two days:
Unhelpfully I had a horrendous cold on one of the days, but the producer assured me that you won't be able to hear it in the recording.
Reading it out loud with energy at a normal speed for the first time, my overall impression was: hey, this is a good bloody book! I went away newly excited about having it out in the world.
If you've got any questions about the recording process, let me know and I'll answer them next week.
"Look! Other people like it! You should buy it!"
I've mentioned before that "blurbs" – quotes from well-known people for the book's cover – are a big deal.
Does it make a difference to sales? No-one really knows, but at the margins it must make some difference and it's something publishers take seriously.
This week, a couple more great ones came in:
Claer Barrett from the FT said:
"A lively take on modern money management from a gifted storyteller, filled with intriguing financial predictions"
And Jake Humphrey, the host of the High Performance podcast, said:
"This brilliant book doesn't just debunk the most common misconceptions people have about money. It also reveals how to really build wealth – no luck, inherited fortune or business genius required. It's the one-stop guide you need to transform your finances."
So that's jolly nice of them.
That's it for now!
Next week I'll have another update on pre-order numbers, and I should be able to show you the final book jacket too.
Thank you again for your support, and do please spread the word!
If you know anyone who might want to pre-order and snag all the bonuses I'm offering, send them here.
Thanks!
