Sheltie Gazette: Special Celebration, Come & Play!

Jun 05, 2025 2:01 pm

Hey — June 8th is Women's Fiction Day!

I didn't even know what Women's Fiction was until I couldn't figure out what professional organization to join. My books often have romance, but they're not always capital-R Romance....they often have fantasy elements but don't always have swords-and-dragons type Fantasy... but when I read that Women's Fiction is a "layered story featuring the emotional journey of the protagonist," I knew that was what I always read and write!

I've met so many wonderful authors and love that so many genres fall under the "Women's Fiction" umbrella, so I'm excited to take part in a little celebration this year. You can click through this list and see which stories appeal to you, and meanwhile win everything from coloring books through signed hard-covers through lots of e-book drawings. Just be sure to enter before this weekend, before people do the drawings by June 8th!

Me is very good boy! You know who is also good? Raquel Drosos writes lovely stories about families and working hard, just like I love my family and working hard! Also, she's clearly very friendly and would give very nice pets.

Did Donna say something about tugging? Me, I love tugging! It's my favorite!

What, I wasn't supposed to be on top of the couch? All the better to see the best stories! I noticed that Julie Mayerson Brown and Nina Wachsman had stories in my mom's Feisty Deeds anthology. Not just any story—they're the first and last stories in the book, which any good herding dog knows is where you put the smartest dogs with the really good bark.

I mean, the smartest stories. With a really good arc.

Sometimes we get bored with the same thing, right? We really like to play! With something new and fun! We don't like to be fenced in!

That's why I'm so excited that J. E. Pace writes fantasy, and Zelly Ruskin writes suspense, and Nina Wachsman writes mystery! It's going to be so fun! Let's go chase down those giveaways!!!!!!!
