Hey ,
She broke my heart a little over a week ago...
I started writing this at 12:28 pm on Monday, lounging on a beanbag in the guest bedroom of a farm in Central Florida.
As I typed away, the pitter-patter of tiny feet on hardwood echoed down the hall.
I looked over at the door to catch my 2-year-old daughter bursting into the room--
Her curly brown hair bouncing as she hopped around with a carrot clenched in her little hand, munching away like Bugs Bunny.
She flashed me a toothy smile filled with orange bits and launched into a silly song before climbing onto the beanbag to snuggle next to me.
I got smothered with kisses and carrot chunks all over my shirt and keyboard.
So, I closed up my Macbook.
And spent the rest of the day kissing her up, watching Miss Rachel together, and playing with bubble blowers.
Pure bliss....it melted me.
Because a few days earlier she broke my heart on FaceTime.
Honestly, being away from my daughter the past few months has been tough--
It's not easy navigating how to fix my relationship with her mom.
But it's been tolerable since I've gotten to FaceTime her everyday.
Seeing her cheesy smile and hearing little voice say new things always fills me with joy.
But my heart was crushed when I heard that little voice say "Come See Me! Come See Me!" again and again for the first time over a week ago.
She kept chanting it and wouldn't stop.
And every time it felt like a dagger plunging in my chest.
