We Lost Him

Aug 05, 2021 7:54 pm

Three weeks ago, we received a call to notify us that Victor was shot. I was already planning in my heart how we were going to storm the hospital, sing and dance him out of the hospital. Victor liked to have fun and I was sure that will make him heal faster.

Victor was an I.T student of Industrial design from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He created beautiful videos, pictures, and 3 animations. He was one of our Vibe King at Sheda house and he loved and served Jesus.

We got to the hospital only for us to hear that he was in the mortuary. It was devastating and heartbreaking. Breaking the news to each member of Sheda house shattered my heart over and over again.

The next day he was buried and that was all. No goodbyes, no warnings, and no answers to our questions. He was with us till late evening of the previous day and the next day he was already in the mortuary.

I had so many unfinished conversations with Victor, conversations that we will never have.

I assumed I was going to see him the next day.

I still catch myself calling him in the office before realizing he is gone. The pain is deep, it has not left, we just keep managing, we talk about him every day at Sheda house because he was part of our lives.

In all of these experiences, I have learned to be intentional about my relationship with people. I don't know how long they will be here. I am deliberate about making the best of these relationships and be there for them.

I am also excited to start a new project after a few weeks of gloominess and sadness. I am creating a workbook for the planning of weddings especially here in Nigeria. I realize that an average couple planning a wedding is overwhelmed with it and needs help with it.

I am excited to give these hacks that I have learned from shooting weddings for over 8 years across the country and so I need you to help me with it also.

What will you like to learn about weddings?

What will you like to be added to the book that will be helpful to couples?

I look forward to reading from you.

Please pray for us in this season.

With Love,

Toluade,

Your friend from Sheda House
