Delhi's Air Quality Remains "Moderate", Likely To Deteriorate In Next 2 Days
Air quality in the national capital was recorded in the moderate category on Thursday but is likely to deteriorate in the next two days with a rise in farm fire incidents in Punjab and Haryana.
A total of 407 farm fires were recorded on Thursday in the neighboring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh with 229 such fires detected in Punjab alone, showed data from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).
Coal Power Generation Capacity Under Outage Reduces
Coal-based electricity generation capacity under outage due to shortage of dry fuel came down to 5 GW on Thursday from 11 GW on Tuesday, according to the Union power ministry.
The latest data indicates that the crunch situation on account of the short supply of coal is easing. Various power plants in different parts of the country are grappling with fuel shortages and efforts are being made to increase fuel supplies.

NASA To Launch Spacecraft On 12-Year Mission To Probe Jupiter Asteroids
NASA was set Saturday to launch a spacecraft called Lucy on a 12-year mission to explore for the first time a group of rocky bodies known as the Jupiter Trojan asteroids, gathering new insights into the solar system's formation.
The Atlas V rocket responsible for propelling the probe was scheduled to take off on Saturday at 5:34 am local time (9:34 am GMT) from Cape Canaveral. Named after an ancient fossil of a pre-human ancestor, Lucy will become the first solar-powered spacecraft to venture so far from the Sun and will observe more asteroids than any probe before it -- eight in all.
International Pressure Mounts On Myanmar Junta To Allow Envoy- Suu Kyi Meet
Eight countries and the EU diplomatic chief on Friday urged the Myanmar junta to let a regional special envoy meet ousted civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
The call comes as concerns grow over the military government's commitment to a "five-point consensus" agreed with regional bloc ASEAN to defuse the bloody crisis that erupted after Myanmar's February 1 coup.
Russia Says It Chased US Naval Destroyer Away From Its Waters
Russia said one of its military vessels chased away a U.S. naval destroyer that attempted to violate Russian territorial waters during Russian-Chinese naval drills in the Sea of Japan on Friday.
There was no immediate comment from the U.S. side. The Russian defense ministry said the crew of a Russian anti-submarine vessel, the Admiral Tributes, had radioed a warning to the USS Chafee that it was "in an area closed to navigation due to exercises with artillery fire".
