Welcome to M.C. Solaris’ December Newsletter

Hiiii! :)

So, I figured I’d kick this thing off with some recent life recaps…

1. I’ve been eating wayyyyy too much food (#I’m The Queen Of Overeating. PS: I do not recommend it. Lol!)

2. The above (along with the incredibly tight waistband of my pants) has resulted in me deciding it’s time to get back on track… in January. I know I’ll just be lying to myself if I say I’ll start now. Lol! ;)

3. I’ve recently tried a few firsts: a rebounder/mini trampoline workout, spin/cycle class, and an infrared sauna session. I enjoyed them all and will do more of both in the future!

Aaaand last but certainly not least…

4. I’ve been making some good progress on book 5 in the Orion’s Order series!

Speaking of which, I’m noticing that the first draft of book 5 in the OO series really has its own personality in comparison to the other books in the series. Not in a bad way or anything (hopefully not bad at least! ;) ), especially because I feel like each book has its own particular flavor and flow.

Perhaps it’s just a reflection of the main characters and where the overarching story arc is. Or maybe it's because I’ve learned sooo much since first writing Calypso’s Heart that I’m naturally starting to align more with whatever my style and flow will continue to grow into. Or perhaps it’s a combination of the two. Or something else entirely.

Whatever it is, I’m trusting in the creative way this story would like to be shared while continuing to do my very best to honor our beloved friends of Orion’s Order and their supernatural stories!

PS: That's all I'm saying about book 5 for now. ;)

Oh and PPS, yes, I’m stilllll in burnout recovery mode. *exhausted groan noises*  So, THANK YOU for your patience and understanding with me as I’m currently in the first place position for being the worst at responding to emails, social media, etc. Lol!

To that point, I have been playing around with a bit of recalibration with my life to incorporate more balance and self care. This is a continuous thing for me because I Just. Want. To. Do. It. All… at least as it pertains to all things Orion’s Order! ;)

Some days, I’m in such a deep flow that I can be at the keyboard all day and barely able to type fast enough. And then some days, not a single word gets on the page. And when those lulls come, the crew of Orion’s Order has taught me to pause and play, instead of pushing myself (what a concept, I know).

So, I might be a bit more sparse on social media these days but that doesn’t mean I’ve been sucked into a black hole or anything. Lol!

Anyway, I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season and are also taking time for yourself to practice some self care!

XOXO

M.C. Solaris

EXCITING AWARDS FOR ORION’S ORDER! :)

When I ventured out of my “cave,” I was incredibly surprised (and grateful) to hear that the Orion’s Order series has received some exciting awards!

Rhyker’s Key won the Gold Literary Titan Book Award! (OMG!)

Rhyker’s Key also was a quarter finalist in the Book Life Fiction contest’s romance genre! (Double OMG!!)

Aaaand Calypso’s Heart won the Readers’ Favorite 5 Star Award! (Allll the OMGs!!!)

Did you know that this month marks the 1 year book birthday of Rhyker’s Key? Did you also know that I’m one and a half years old as an author? So, to receive these awards are not only like early book birthday gifts but also just… Well, I’ll just say that I’m feeling ALL. THE. MOTHER-LOVING. FEELS!

Aaaand I’m also feeling a little (lot) of imposter syndrome.

“The Gold Award is bestowed on books that we found to be perfect in their delivery of original content, meticulous development of unique characters in an organic and striking setting, innovative plot that supports a fresh theme, and elegant prose that transforms words into beautifully written books.”

When I read that (and especially at the word “perfect”—y’all know I have my qualms with that word. Hello, Recovering Perfectionist!), I’m feeling major imposter syndrome.

Why is it so hard for me to truly accept that there are souls in this world that have seen my art in the form of words and have given it a gold/5 star/finalist award?

Probably because I am my harshest critic and sometimes it takes everything in me to push that publish button and share my art with the world.

I know these books aren’t “perfect.” I know there are typos and other things that have slipped through the cracks. I know I am still learning and growing as a storyteller, editor, graphic designer/artist, publisher, entrepreneur, etc.

Even with these “perfect” imperfections, there are still people out there who gave Rhyker’s Key and Calypso’s Heart some top-rated awards. And I cannot even begin to express just how much that truly means to my little (and vulnerable) artist’s heart.

And speaking of not being able to begin to express things, I also feel like I can’t even begin to express just how much gratitude I feel for each and every one of you who’s been on this M.C. Solaris train ride with me for over a year now.

THANK YOU!

Yes, I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it because it’s the truth: Thank you! Thank you for choosing to read the Orion’s Order series. Thank you for taking a chance on a new author. Thank you for loving the characters and the species world. Thank you for all your messages and comments and enthusiasm. And thank you for allllllllll your love and support!!!

One psychic. Six demons. And a whole lot of trouble.

I am your typical, admittedly anti-social woman who lives alone in the rural Highlands of Scotland. I also happen to be a clairvoyant who can summon the dead. It's a pity the souls I talk to didn't give me a heads-up on the night six demons came hunting for me.
