Why Trust Creates Better Leaders (and Writers)
Oct 07, 2025 5:24 pm
Hello ,
Leadership and productivity often come down to the same principle: creating space for what truly matters. Whether it’s giving your team the trust to lead themselves, or carving out the focus you need for your own big projects, the results are transformational.
This week, I’m sharing two reflections—one on leadership and one on deep focus—plus a quick update on a retreat that helped me take a giant leap forward in my own work.
Leading with Trust: How Autonomy Boosts Productivity
Have you ever noticed how managing people can sometimes create a sense of dependency?
It’s a common challenge in leadership, but what if I told you that leading with trust can actually cultivate autonomy?
When we empower our teams to take ownership of their tasks, we not only boost their confidence but also enhance productivity.
Trust is the foundation of effective communication. When team members feel trusted, they’re more likely to share ideas, voice concerns, and collaborate openly. This creates an environment where everyone can thrive.
As a productivity coach, I’ve seen the positive results when leaders foster autonomy. When individuals know they have the freedom to make decisions, they take ownership and step up their game. They can focus on what truly matters.
So, how can we lead with trust? Start by setting clear expectations and then step back and see what flows. Allow your team to explore their own solutions.
Let’s embrace a growth mindset together. Share your thoughts on how trust has impacted your leadership style. I’d love to hear your experiences!
Sometimes, You Have to Step Away to Step Forward
After years of putting it off, I finally carved out time for deep, focused work by attending a writing retreat. By removing distractions and committing to one project, I made more progress in days than I had in months. What big project are you ready to give your full attention?
Personal Update
This past week, I attended my first Writer’s Retreat on St. Simons Island with the Atlanta Writer’s Club. I even stepped out of my comfort zone to read part of my manuscript aloud—and the feedback was incredibly encouraging! My fourth book is now about 95% finished, and I’ll soon be preparing it for traditional publishing. Stay tuned!
Whether you’re guiding a team or focusing on your own goals, productivity starts with clarity, trust, and intentional choices.
I help professionals get out of their own way so they can optimize their time and finally make things happen.
If you’re ready to create more space, structure, and results in your work and life, let’s connect.
