In my time working with children ( both biological and those I'm privileged to instruct ) I have come to realize that nothing really is internalized until the child begins to participate actively and willingly in that learning.

The challenge is, while children may show up because they have no choice , how do you ensure that they move from merely consuming instructions to understanding and applying instructions.

Here are FIVE tips I have used and apply in the Mastermind Circle ( our accountability and peer mentorship program for 6-14 year olds )

👉🏿Knowledge for parents : As a parent you can't give what you don't have. If you don't seek knowledge in parenting you won't evolve on he spectrum. Read books. take courses, join a community. You need knowledge to parent effectively.

👉🏿Model, teach , model : Children are copy cats , they learn better by watching , especially when it's relational.

👉🏿Active Practice: Practice! practice and more practice. I don't joke with this one. A little block(activity) daily with the right amount of cement ( correction ) is how to build the finest tower( character)

👉🏿Calm Motivation: (praise and suggest): Praise their effort before you suggest a better approach or offer a reminder ( this one is my jackpot. I have a Ph.D here )

👉🏿Consolidation: Step back and allow the child gain stamina. Let them take all the adult teaching and give it their own expression.

Now this can be achieved excellently with the right circle of peers.ep, it is positive peer pressure💃🏻💃🏻

This is one of our biggest WHYs at the Mastermind Circle(MMC). The peer mentorship and influence ' no be here' as we say in Nigerian parlance.

The MMC is the circle where every partner is a leader. I have never been prouder of a curriculum than the one we put together for the circle this year .You can only imagine what the next cohort will be.

Every school age child and tween ( 6-14)even those in boarding school should be here trust me. Unfortunately we've closed registration for this cohort, to focus on about 40 children on this journey .
