Dear Parents, Skills Are Taught Through Act, Not As Abstracts.

Jun 28, 2023 9:00 am

Parents said to me once," I don't see the need to have children learn some of these things, like cooking, cleaning, and other chores at home. Especially the things that domestic staff are paid to do, after all, they will still end up with machines and people who do these things for them."

I agreed with her that they will likely end up with machines and staff who would do these things. I mean with Artificial Intelligence (AI) They may even own robots who would do them.

Then I decided to ask her a question," So what is wrong with having them learn these things anyway? Would it stop the robots or humans paid to do them now or in the future?"

I'm sure you can guess her answer...

Yes, you are right, her answer was," Why waste time on what you don't need?"

I know many of you are asking the same question and trust me this post isn't enough space for me to share the many reasons why they should do chores and more, but here are FIVE I can share off the top of my head.

👉 Lifeskills like responsibility, resilience, problem-solving, and hard work are learned through practice and application. If your child isn't 'doing' (actively) then they aren't learning. Studies show that people who did chores as children turn out to be more successful professionals.

👉 The subconscious mind which is the place where most of our memories are stored for future use ( its more technical than this, but let's keep it simple ) depends on experiences, and if these experiences are not created then the subconscious mind has nothing to serve your child when they face situations in the future or when they need to navigate life effectively.

👉 If covid 19 taught us nothing, it taught us that there will be times in our lives when systems can fail, and your skills and ability remain what you can turn to, what skill will your child turn to?

👉AI is built by humans, the people you employ need training and your expectations will be met only if you have excellent expectations.

This can be achieved more effectively if you have the manual yourself. Studies show that people who have certain skills can recreate themselves ( equally skilled )in their team.

👉 life is a journey, who your child will be at 40 is already formed by the time they are 10. Their daily practice is what will form who they become.

Honour, empathy, support, and love are expressed by sacrifices made through these simple actions your children learn to do and express at home.

Dear Parents,

The next time you think of chores in your home, think of it as a tool for your children to learn the skills they need to honour you, themselves , your family, and society. Think of it as what they need to navigate the world in the future.

Thank God for the parents and kids in our Mastermind Circle , they know this is compulsory in the circle. See details below on how your child can join us in the next cohort or send us a chat on 08130621566 for inquiries.
