2023 On The Way
Dec 30, 2022 7:05 am
2023 is a few days away and I'm certain some of us have made certain resolves at this point for the new year, whatever you choose to call it - new year resolution, action plans, new ways, etc. Oh well, that is great because the ability to stop and reflect itself is huge. It requires a skill not everyone has or can apply effectively.
However, I would like to remind you that a change in dates on the calendar or the purchase of a new diary does to mean a change in attitude, strategy, or commitment.
If you are going to do anything differently this year it will require more than a resolution, it will require knowledge, tools, effective strategies, commitment, and most importantly consistency.
I know you will hear a lot of these in church and other places of worship, from motivational podcasts, and of course in your place of work, so no I didn't come to give you a motivational speech about new year's resolutions.
I just want to remind you that the same principles apply to parenting.
๐๐ฟ What kind of child are you raising, what do you want to see in that child?
๐๐ฟ What steps will you take this year toward the big GOAL
๐๐ฟ What do you need to learn, unlearn and relearn?
๐๐ฟ How much time are you willing to put daily into parenting?
๐๐ฟ What habits and skills will your child be learning /honing /mastering?
Quick advice, let reading be a priority for your children of all ages.
โฆ๏ธGet a budget for books
โฆ๏ธStart with reading aloud,
โฆ๏ธ Introduce different genres of books to know which one they prefer.
โฆ๏ธ If you are African, help them connect with their roots by reading African perspectives.
