I started a count down to my birthday series a few days ago and I will be sharing here ...

10 Lessons I Learnt Late That You Should Teach Your Preteens Today .

Day 10, Lesson 1

LESSON 1: Family Over Everything Else .

I was only about 13 years old when I left my home in Lagos to Abuja where I would go to school and live with my aunt when I wasn't in school.

I would go many months without seeing my parents , and because we didn't own a land line at the time and there was no gsm, communication was limited .

This would mark the beginning of a detachment from my nuclear family that I wasn't conscious of as a child and I guess my parents also didn't realize either.

Within a period of 5 years, I had gotten so used to being  away from home emotionally especially after my dad passed on.

Fast forward to the last 8years that marks a season of personal growth, healing and reparenting , I realized that this left an emotional vacuum that affected my relationship with the people who love and supported me the most

The family is the most natural form of relationship.

In the course of our lives we would meet amazing people who would be good to us, but nothing trumps family .

📌Never be too busy and too distant.

📌Love your family no matter what .

📌Find every reason to be with family .

📌Choose systems that allow frequent

communication with family .

📌 Create time and memories, and never forget,

.

.

.

Family comes first after God, and over everything else .

I learnt this late, but you can teach this to your preteen today .
