MENTORING IN PARENTING

.

After working on my vision board at the end of 2020, our son looked at it where it was hanging directly facing my bed and asked what I meant by "handing everyone their rose"

Oh, I plan on celebrating and appreciating my family, friends, loved ones and people who have created some impact in my life, by focusing on the positive things about them and celebrating them.

Then he asked, what if there's nothing positive about the person. I smiled and said to him, " No sweetie, there is always something positive about every single person."

Watch me say positive yet true things about the people I love all through the year.

So, I would write a special tribute on birthdays. and other special days and would have him read the message too and each time he would say, "Wow he/she must be...

I would call loved ones (without caring that they reciprocate or not ) have the kids speak with them too just to model how to love and care for others

By the time 2021 ended I had handed "lovely roses" to almost everyone I know who has been a source of love, support and those I respect. Yeah, I probably missed a few here and there, but I was intentional about it.

Dear parents, life is beautiful because of the people we share it with. Teach your children to appreciate the people in their lives.

Teach them to be assertive, bold and at the same time never to hold back on expressing their feelings and appreciation. It is not a weakness, it is being authentic, caring and handing people their roses while they are alive and can smell its sweetness because that is when it matters.

The dead don't smell roses.

Have a blessed week filled with love and the kind of tenderness spread on my face as I appreciate my sister on stage.

And the people say...

Cheers.
