SEIZING THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN
Jul 18, 2022 8:58 am
The last time I was really in a boarding school system was many years ago when I was in school as a young teenager, so visiting one (with my crew) to join our friends who celebrate their child was quite nostalgic for me.
It was a beautiful experience and I had so much fun and learning moments. I even got a ( sweet )teary moments- I get teary like that when kids are doing amazing things.
It was also a chance for my children to have first-hand experiences as part of our 2years pre-launch plan.
I watched the children as they moved around excited about having a piece of home with them, I was excited to see familiar kids- my old students, Kamsy's old classmates and kids from his primary school.
As I looked around one thing was glaring, " structure"
Wow, what's a system!
What a training group!
What an opportunity for consolidation!
And then it occurred to me once again, how that system will 'rub off on each child differently.
📌 For some kids, the system is like a robe they get to wear for about 38 weeks every year for 6 years and after every 14 weeks, they'll dump the 'robe' at the gate every holiday and bag great academic reports without the real essence of the program.
📌 For others this is the beginning of a lifetime of values, virtue and structure.
And as I looked at their parents, I said a little prayer in my heart.
" Dear Lord grant them the grace to recreate and uphold these values, virtues and skills in their homes as well."
For habits are internalized only with...
PRACTICE, CONSISTENCY and MODELLING
Without these, the real benefit of this beauty will be lost, and the 'robe' turned into a rag in the long run.
