Teaching Children to Prioritize Using Teachable Moments

Jan 12, 2026 10:58 am

“If you don’t teach your child how to prioritise early, life will always pull them in every direction.”

This past weekend, we had family visiting. It was full of laughter, gist, and real life still happening.

In the middle of hosting, I stepped away for a 30-minute check-in with one of our Mastermind children. Later, our son excused himself for a scheduled class, and soon after, our daughter stepped out for her own mentorship induction (even though she wanted to keep playing).

Yet, we all came back together...present, connected, and joyful.

Here’s the lesson: we didn’t pause growth to entertain, and we didn’t abandon connection to pursue growth. We practiced balance.

Children must learn early how to prioritise, honour commitments, and confidently say, “Excuse me for a moment.”

The most powerful lessons are lived daily, not lectured.

P.S: In 5 days, we welcome a new cohort into the Children’s Mastermind Circle. If you have a child aged 5–10, now is the time to lay strong foundations.
