Financial Awareness is s Whole School FOR CHILDREN.

I remember that Sunday almost 3 years ago when I was upset at our son. He was over 10 years old at the time and he had been running Kaycee Juice for over a year.
We had just finished cooking Sunday Jollof and I asked to know how his sales went that day.
Mr. CEO went into his room to count how much money he had sold and came back empty handed looking confused. After a few minutes, he summoned the courage to say " I can't find the money I sold today."
Hian, how much was it, I asked him but he wasn't sure, so I asked him to count what was left and do the subtraction from what he took for sale that day.
This suggestion also didn't help because he didn't count what he took out in the first place.
At this juncture I got upset. How do you sell and throw the money away, and how do you apply no strategy or prior knowledge to what you do?
During our business session later that day, I told him, "You do not need to continue running this business for now if you aren't ready to learn from it."
"You started this and you can stop if it's too much for you to handle right now, there's no compulsion. What I won't support is you being careless and inconsistent." I continued.
That day he committed that he would be more intentional and admitted that he still needed some help with the process involved in running the business and the account. So I got back to teaching and modeling to him.
The truth is financial education is a life skill and there is the right lesson for every phase. The question is;
👉 At what phase is your child ?
👉 How Financially Smart is your child for their age or phase?
👉 How intentional are you about them learning the subject of money?
I have worked the journey of a Kidpreneur Mum who is creating the right balance between value and over-exposing children and I can boldly tell you that there is a way to get this right and leverage their knowledge and platforms to empower them further.
I have created a checklist to help you evaluate your journey in this area and I want to share that with you.
