RAISING CHILDREN TO TAKE THE LEAD.

Feb 10, 2022 8:23 am

Our son turned 12years two months ago and it's been a whole new phase for us. This is the last year before he becomes a teenager and there are a couple of things/ skills on our list to check before he becomes a teenager.

Some of which are:

👉🏿 the ability to self-direct.

👉🏿 initiate task.

👉🏿 contribute actively to his community.

👉🏿 solve problems for himself and others.

👉🏿 ask for help when he needs a hand.

👉🏿 time management.

At the beginning of this week, I decided to take off the extra support I offer him in the kitchen to get snacks and launch made and packed for school.

However I was quick to add, I would be helping your sister (6year old )get set for school, so you can ask for my help when you need it, but getting it all running is on you, just like when you went to school alone and your sister was being homeschooled, only this time it's for 2 people.

📌 Day 1: Everything was ready but he didn't get round to eating breakfast and had to wear his shoes in the car.

Bed not made. (was made after school though, which is fine by me )

They left for school 10 minutes later than the departure time.

📌 Day 2: All was ready, but the bed was not made, dish-washed not after breakfast and he didn't ask for help.

📌 Day 3: Right on time. All ready, dish-washed after breakfast, bed not made.

5 minutes later than the departure time.

Day 4: All was ready, dish done, bed made.

Asked for some help and was 10 minutes late.

I say to him often, ask for help when you have to, however, in life, if you want something, then you must need it enough to go for it or make it happen.

You want to get to school early and with all you need for a good day in school, then focus and time management is the goal.

So, We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Guess what I will be sharing more on this and about " Raising Children to Understand Purpose and Impact " today at our Thursday Live Session.
