Why Reading Matters for Children

There is a part of your child that unfolds beautifully when you introduce them to reading early. Start with read-aloud sessions - bedtime stories and simple daily reading routines.
Then move to shared reading through role play, buddy reading, and doing book reviews together.
As they grow older, introduce a mix of genres: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, self-development books, faith books, biographies, autobiographies, history, and more. This doesn’t just expose them to the world across different eras; it opens their hearts and minds to what is truly possible.
Parenting goes beyond giving our children the “good life” or more than we had. It means helping them see beyond the four walls of our home, their classroom, and their own limited perspective. It means raising lifelong learners -children who have seen others live out their calling and can grow to understand that they, too, carry a calling, an instinct for excellence within their spirit.
Trust me, the easiest and most effective pathway to your child’s purpose is through books.
Give them books, and you give them vision, language, identity, and possibilities. Now you see why reading matters this much.
