Help! How can I Get My Child to Start Reading For Leisure
Oct 28, 2021 1:53 pm
"Wow...it's a collection of Malory Towers! But she can't read this books daddy, it's too advanced for her!" Our son complained after their dad gifted his sister a collection of the series.
"Each book has got over 200 pages !
Oh well I could read them to her or better still read them and tell her the stories he suggested. Then he was quick to add; but it seems all girlie girlie, not sure I should read them."
A month later he handed me the box of books, I'm done reading them mum. It's about a girls school , but I enjoyed reading all 12 of them.
You can keep it in a safe place for Ada till she's 8 or 10 she'd love it .
Who would have thought this same child who wouldn't pick a fiction book to read till he was about 7years old would turn into a veracious reader .
Truth is reading for leisure is too much of a skill to leave on the table, so we set this as a goal and went to work .
I will be sharing some of what we did at our PT.M Hangout on Thursday October 27 at 1p.m.
