CHILDREN HAVE A VOICE, ALLOW THEM TO USE IT.

Aug 05, 2021 10:01 am

You mean you haven't had your bath mummy? My 6-year-old daughter asked me just yesterday morning. " Nope" I responded, why do you ask?

"Well, you were reminding us to go and bath and I thought you had yours already, aren't we suppose to show good examples?"

Oh okay, I tried to explain to her that the reason I haven't had one was that I was working, but she didn't buy it, but mummy I was also making some bags for my toys, I was working too she fired back laughing.

While this conversation with my daughter went on I was made to remember again that parenting is about modelling and each of us is called to be teachers and mentors to our children.

I reminded myself yet again, that our children should be able to hold us accountable the same way we do to them.

Our conversation ended with both of us agreeing that each person's activities whatever they may be are relevant and should be respected.

It was one last thing for me, letting our daughter know that she has a voice and that voice is worth listening to.

August is here, and many children are home for the summer holiday!!! Please make it count!

πŸ”‘Create memories together!

πŸ”‘ Live the examples you want them to emulate

πŸ”‘ Teach them skills that will empower and can be converted!

πŸ”‘ Train the habit that transforms.

πŸ”‘ Listen to the thoughts behind their voice.

Welcome to August, let's make it count!

Meanwhile, you can join our August cohort of " My Everyday Parenting Journey " to get tools, strategies and the support needed to make it count!
