A Skilled Child is Equipped with Life Lessons

Jul 31, 2023 6:25 am

Getting our children to decide where they would like to serve while learning a skill or doing an internship program wasn't a challenge this year; at all.

Our daughter has learned to sew every summer holiday since she was 6 years old and that is because she loves to draw, make little dresses for her dolls, and loves cute dresses.

The first year all she learned was how to use the needle, stitch buttons, and take measurements.

By the second year, she learned to cut her cotton fabric with the help of her older cousin who was her trainer at the time. She also made a tote bag and learned to use the sewing machine.

And this year she was quick to say, "Can I continue with sewing lessons?" when we mentioned the internship for the Mastermind Partners.

Someone said to me, "What can she learn at age 8?" and I had a good laugh. Now this is the problem many parents have, they keep limiting children.

Oh well, let me share a few of what she can learn;

πŸ‘‰ We are showing her what consistency and staying focused on a thing is like.

πŸ‘‰ We are getting feedback on how our child behaves outside our home and the structure of school.

πŸ‘‰ She is building on her existing knowledge and turning her hobby into a skill. ( oh she fixes bottoms perfectly, takes measurements, and can navigate using a sewing machine with some guides.

πŸ‘‰ She's engaged actively for 3 hours daily learning something different, creating new things, forming neuro pathways and

developing her brain.

πŸ‘‰ She is learning to build social interaction, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness.

Let me stop here, but know that this is how we ace in school and everywhere.

Dear parents, give your child permission to EVOLVE.

Have a great week ahead.

Meanwhile, our reading challenge kicks off tomorrow, have you registered your child yet?

If you have toddlers and young children 0-10, do this for them and thank me later. Send us a mail if you would like to enrol your child and you for the challenge.
