HABITS CAN BE TRAINED AND THE SECRET IS CONSISTENCY..

When a child is born they come with a brain totally empty of any sort of program. You can liken it to having an empty flash drive as my friend Julie B Mogbo puts it.
They are ready to download everything the environment and people they are surrounded by offer them.
Another way to look at it is a foam placed in a bowl of water, it will soak up the water to the limit of it's capacity.
Can you get the picture now?
So the child who isn't deliberately taught certain skill will struggle with it because they don't have the ABILITY to cope with it, but may have the CAPACITY if only someone would be intentional enough to teach.
Hence, what happens often is that parents and caregiver get frustrated and punish children for not utilising the capacity to do certain things when in truth these parents/caregivers have failed to train the child's ability to do those things.
Other challenges are time and consistency. A child who is taught a skill early and consistently will create a habit of it and is less likely to struggle than one who is taught later and has little or no reinforcement.
