Summer Holiday is Here!

It's the Summer Holiday!!!

Guess who got lucky?

Me!

My little Miss 7 decided she'd make a craft during her 'self-time', so she made me this pretty hand fan, and a pair of mummy-daughter neck locks as she calls them.

Me: Oh pretty, where did you get the pendants?

Her: I got the dog footprint from my friend Ene, who is Kamsy's classmate and friend too.

And I cut out the other one from an old wedding card I saw in your room.

Do you like them? 😁

Me: Oh sure

Her: Mum kindly let me know when it's noon so I can watch some t.v before going outdoor to play, please.

You see routines and schedules are a thing for us in our home and that is because we understand that every human being thrives on structure and boundaries.

If you aren't setting boundaries and training your kids to internalize self-control, then your system is incomplete.

Here are a few things you may want to change this holiday

🔴 Telling kids what to do every time...please don't, you kill their instinct and hinder the ability to self-direct.

🔴 The idea of free time...please kill that thing they call free time. Engage your kids actively this holiday and not passively.

Let there be designated time for play, tv, video games etc. Do NOT turn your kids into couch potatoes or 'bingers' it is counterproductive and you are messing up their minds.

Hear this, excess tv and gaming are not REWARD for doing well in school or being away in boarding school you hear.

Note that your children are developing their habits for the future and you are the trainer.

🔴 Do not micro-manage them this holiday deciding everything and where everyone should be and go. Let your structure and system ( planned by you and the kids) guide them instead of you micromanaging them.

🔴 Create a plan for the holiday.
