"There is no star without a coach!"

I heard David Folaranmi say these words at the International Boys Conference hosted by Boys Leadership Academy and I couldn't help screaming, " Gbam!" Truth on marble !

While sharing the amazing story of how he conquered drug addiction and substance abuse ( a story that leaves me awestruck everytime I listen to it ) David talked about some of the damages of  that setback in his life and how he may never be able to recover some of the things he lost in the 7years of addiction.

I had tears in my eyes as he spoke of how lost a teenager or young person can get just because they lack the right people in their lives.

Here's a man who as a teenager was brilliant, had a good family, spiritual support, and grooming he was a bonafide church boy attending many services and never disobeying his parents on these matters.

But alas...when negative peer pressure and idleness ( yes many young people can be in school and still be ideal ) meet and rear their combined faces, even the strongest kids shake to their very foundation.

This is when their Inner circle, positive habits, and intrinsic motivation kick in.

Now look down here, David said I should tell you to tell your child to run if they find this kind of people in their circle ;

🔴People who have no qualms talking about

other people and judging who is right and wrong all the time.

🔴 self-centered People.

🔴 People who try to trivialize your achievement - Kill joy.

🔴People who feel threatened by your success.

🔴 Friends who are slaves to trends and societal pressure and laugh at your choices when they don't align with these cultures.
