I took an hour a few days ago to update my children's folder ( hard copy documents) and as I arranged their report (academic) from school I couldn't help smiling at how far we've come from the last report and Parent- teachers' conference.

If you've followed me for a while you would know by now that I'm quite big on soft skills and character-building.

Hence, the most important part of our children's report sheet for me is usually the second page which gives feedback on their socio-emotional skills as well as their growth and development milestone.

Term after term our daughter's reports were great in every area except for one thing. I watched the trend for a whole year and decided it was time to start the journey to nip it in the board.

And so as I looked through her reports while doing my little update , I smiled yet again at the the report and progress made ;

👉🏿 Keeps desk and book tidy - Average.

👉🏿 Does neat work -Average.

The bottom line, our daughter's organisational skills were average.

She joined the Mastermind Circle ( our accountability & peer mentorship program for 7-13year old) when she turned 7 in July 2022, and her first goal during the goal setting and vision session was - Organization Skills .

So she put it on her vision board like this;

📌 This is me in December 2022 with my books, desk, room, lunch box, wardrobe, bed, toy box and workstation tidied excellently.

Fast forward to November 2022, and she's made tremendous progress!💃

Just 3 weeks ago she won the Merit Badge at school for tidying desk and stuff.💃

Now she packs her meals for school and tidies her work station every evening.

She also prepares her bags and uniforms for the next day at the end of each day .💃

🎯 She is not there yet, but hey, she's making progress.

🎯 She's learnt to set goals and work on her goals every day.

🎯 She submits to being held accountable and reports her effort to the mastermind daily.

🎯 Her dad has ordered her copy of the SKILL-UP JOURNAL and she's getting set for the Children Vision Workshop 2022 in December to get set for 2023!

🎯 Self-direction and initiating task independently has been initiated, now it's for us to help her build on it.
