Victorian-inspired "12 Days of Christmas" deck

image

The deck of Christmas cards in "Bah! Humbug!" features silly animals based on the traditional carol, The 12 Days of Christmas (12 x Drummer Drumming, 11 x Pipers Piping...all down to 1 x Partridge in a Pear Tree). This creates a novel distribution of cards.

Versatile components

Removing or adding other cards/tokens (also included in the box) opens up endless possibilities for new original and traditional card games, providing hours of gaming fun for solo gamers, small groups, or large tables of friends and family.

Additional contents (subject to change): • 3 Clock cards • 12 Calendar/Reference/Scorecards • Wreath Cards • coal tokens • holly berries • wooden pawn

It's a quick, social bluffing game...

Playing a prototype of "Bah! Humbug!" in Watertown, NY.

The base game of "Bah! Humbug!" is a quick and easy bluffing game, with mechanisms from familiar games like "Cheat" or "BS."

  1. Mail Christmas cards to your True Love, and be sure to boast about what you've sent. (You don't have to tell the truth!)
  2. When someone says "Bah! Humbug!" inspect the mail. Caught a liar? Earn 1 holly berry. Got away with a lie? Earn 1 coal. (But if the Postman shows up, you'll just never know!)
  3. Race to collect enough tokens to win!

...plus 12 more games in the same box!

Co-designers Emily Willix, Evan Halbert, and Chris Stone playtest Bah Humbug! variations at GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana August 2022. They're just 3 of the 12 designers behind the collection.

"Ladies Dancing" is a rondel and set-collection game for 1-3 players, currently in playtesting.

In Felix Falk's "The Christmas Parade," two players manipulate cards to create the parade lineup with the most applause.

In Chris Stone's "Snapdragon," players play sets to grab flaming raisins from a punch bowl without getting burned. (Cards shown here are prototypes)

Updated illustrations and graphic design

Over the past few months, we've engaged a graphic designer David Richards to help illuminate the original vintage-style illustrations by Olha Bondarenko, creating a deck that feels both modern and timeless.

Easy on the planet.

At Small Furry Games, we aim to create to fun, intergenerational games in small boxes that are convenient for travel, and easy on the environment. With this, our first manufactured game, we are striving for high levels of sustainability. We can make a big impact by reducing our box size, and by using recycled and FSC-sourced materials and minimal plastic. Board games don't last forever, so we want to produce a game that can age gracefully and ultimately be recycled when its life is over.

This approach sometimes means our games cost a bit more, but we think it's worth it. For instance, about 5 cents per game can ensure that the wood and paper we use is sustainably sourced and certified. For about 35 cents per game, we can wrap them up in brown paper instead of plastic wrap. We hope that our followers and fans will celebrate these higher standards of sustainability, and maybe even help us shift the industry standards.

Fun for years to come!

There are plenty more games coming, beyond the 12 included in the box. We hope to release additional downloadable game rules and fun activities each year, so friends and family can rediscover the Bah! Humbug! collection every Christmas season.
