Hi Everyone

Since my last newsletter we have spent a week in the amazing town of Charters Towers. There is a great deal of history there including its service to the US during WW2 and Gold. It is known as the 'Gold Town.' Munition bunkers are still dotted around the hills and are now a tourist attraction with screens playing original footage and stories from war time. I highly recommend a visit.

At this time we are in the small town of Clermont which is located in the outback central highlands of Queensland. It is a major hub for the surrounding coal mines and has a gorgeous lagoon to enjoy taking a stroll around. The wildlife will either make you welcome or hiss, depending on their mood for the day.

I adore the outback of Australia. It's the real Australia where people are friendly and love to stop for a chat. Most people who live in this country are coast dwellers and worshippers and in my opinion, they have no idea what they are missing. The coast is crowded with most people too busy to even give you a smile, humid, and windy. Our beaches are known for their beauty but for me, if you have seen one, you have pretty much seen them all. Give me the dry, dusty, uniqueness of the outback any day where there is room to move. We are fortunate to have our dream of a home in a tiny rural town in the mountains where the air is clean and where traffic jams are unheard of, but having the opportunity to travel as much as we do and enjoy the outback most years refuels the soul.

Now, onto books and I have a lot this week as I am doing a number of newsletter swaps. You, as the reader, benefit from this selection so take your time with a cuppa and have a look around at the offerings.
