Hi Everyone

I have returned from my visit to China, an experience I will never forget. Walking part of The Great Wall, Exploring the Forbidden City, both in Beijing, and discovering all Shanghai has to offer, including Disneyland made it the trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend, if you have the opportunity, visit this amazing country.

On October 9 we boarded the Spirit of Tasmania ferry once again for our travel from the mainland to the 'Apple Isle' where we will stay for an undetermined time. One year just wasn't enough to explore this unique island. The trip down was uneventful and Miss Gemma-Jean took being kennelled on board in her stride as usual. The number of cars and caravans and semi trailers the ship takes is mind boggling. We are now in a park in our caravan in Devonport until 2 November.

Marigolds and Mischief, a cozy mystery set in the town of Whisperville is Now live and my next release will be Key to Purgatory which releases on 23 October.

As usual, if you ever want to touch base, I am more than happy to answer questions or just share a chat and if I am in your town, I'd love to catch up over a cuppa so contact me at horsnells@yahoo.com.au

In a town shaken by mischief, will love have the courage to bloom?

In the charming town of Whisperville, spring should bring nothing but flowers, laughter, and the annual fair. But when marigold blooms start turning up at the scenes of petty crimes—each arranged in strange, unsettling patterns—the townsfolk’s peace begins to unravel.

Maxine Porter, owner of Magnificent Marigolds and fiercely protective of her community, never expected her florist’s eye to make her part of the investigation. Yet when the crimes strike closer to home, she finds herself teaming up with the town’s new detective, Bryce Owens—a man with broad shoulders, steady blue eyes, and a heart scarred by loss.

Together, they follow a trail of flowers and scripture that leads not to a faceless villain, but to a hidden truth rooted in old resentments and youthful bitterness. As suspicion tears at Whisperville’s trust, Maxine and Bryce must learn to lean on each other—balancing fear with tenderness, and justice with mercy.

When a young man is found dead on the banks of Wiseman’s Ferry, his best friend, Noah Mason, becomes the prime suspect. The evidence is damning—rope fibres, a heated argument, and a witness who swears he heard Noah’s voice in the dark.

But inside the courtroom, the Crown’s tower of circumstantial evidence begins to crumble. Forensic experts question the certainty of ‘consistencies,’ witnesses falter under the weight of their own memories, and a fugitive emerges from the shadows with testimony too raw to ignore.

As the defence exposes flaws in the investigation, the question becomes not just who killed Ethan Davies, but how far fear, bias, and silence can twist the truth.

For fans of tense, layered courtroom dramas, Key to Purgatory is a gripping exploration of justice under fire—where every shadow hides doubt, and one man’s life hangs in the balance.

One apartment. One fake boyfriend. One agreement waiting to be broken.

Makayla:

I’m tired of my dad playing matchmaker.

As a music teacher juggling life with sickle cell disease, I don’t have time—or energy—for forced dinner dates with “eligible men.”

So, I come up with a plan: find a fake boyfriend, let him move in, and make it believable.

Daniel was never supposed to say yes.

He’s a grumpy, emotionally walled-off lawyer who hates chaos and clings to solitude.

But now he’s in my apartment—tall, brooding, infuriatingly neat—and fitting into my world way too easily.

I don’t believe in love. Not when life has taught me it rarely sticks around.

But something about him feels dangerously real.

Daniel:

Something about her captured my attention the moment I met her.

I knew I was in trouble.

Controlled and always alone—that’s who I’ve been.

But I said yes before I could stop myself.

Because moving into her tea-scented, music-filled home was the only way I could be close to her.

She’s sunshine and sharp edges. She hums while stirring honey into her cup and smiles through pain like it’s nothing.

This was supposed to be pretend.

But with every stolen glance and late-night conversation, the line between real and fake keeps slipping.

She doesn’t believe in love.

I never thought it was possible.

But living with her is rewriting everything I thought I knew—

And walking away might not be an option.

I loved a fair boy once… but darkness took him.

Darkness kept me warm in the deep, but this is different. I never expected the secret he revealed. I never thought he would break my heart like this.

Everything that held me together is breaking apart.

I am falling apart.

Moving through the trials and the fancy banquets in the palace, I’m as much a ghost as I was when I arrived here.

Who to trust? Who to be wary of? Is there anyone on my side?

What games are the gods playing?

What do they want from me?

Caught between the command of the sea queen and my own emotions, I don’t know which way to turn.

Yet I’m still going, the wheel of fate turning and turning.

My magic is back.

And those I now am suppose to end are the same ones holding my heart, the same ones I wish to save.

My wish? To understand, find out the truth at last, so I can see the end of this story.

My problem? The man I love is the man I hate, and how am I going to ever win this game without losing my mind?

My only chance? Save everyone until I get to the bottom of this, even if it means refusing orders and abandoning my mission.

Abandoning prudence and throwing caution to the wind.

After all, what does it matter? It’s too late for caution. We’ve come to the end, the bitter end, and I have to know whether I made a haunting mistake or whether my heart spoke true.

I hadn’t counted on this mission upending the world, on the truth causing a clash of monsters.

Hadn’t counted on a different darkness saving me.

On a new family and a new beginning.

I’ll always be a thorn, but this thorn has found a way to bloom.

Let the light in. It’s time to glow.

She’s my workplace enemy—now my student, and way too tempting. The ocean’s deep, but this forbidden trouble runs deeper.

Eli:

In our small town of Dove Key, Julianne Verne and I are known for one thing. We clash spectacularly over every aspect of my family's resort where we both work. She's the meticulously organized accountant thriving on order, while I'm the laid-back dive instructor thriving on anything but. We're fire and ice in the Florida Keys, enemies and opposites in every way.

But now, I'm her unwilling scuba instructor for a wild wedding stunt. The close proximity is doing dangerous things to our long-standing animosity. Suddenly, her knife-sharp wit sounds more like playful banter. Our intense glares are looking a lot like smoldering glances. Then we combust in a beach shack.

This attraction is a forbidden complication I don't need. Especially with Mom's no-workplace-romances rule threatening to capsize everything. But I'm starting to think this captivating, infuriating woman might be the one adventure I can't resist.

Read BETTER THAN NEVER, book one of the interconnected small-town Sunset Siesta series, and discover why sometimes the best adventures begin with your worst enemy.

Avalynne

All my life I’ve been good.

A good student.

A good sister.

A good girl.

Until I wasn’t.

Until Grandpapa sent me here to the convent for the nuns to fix me.

Evil ensnares my mind and sunders my soul.

Or that’s what they tell me, at least.

Reverend Mother demands penance.

Grandpapa demands punishment.

And three men threaten it all.

The Professor, whose words drip with arctic arrogance.

The Priest, whose dark eyes linger on me for too long.

And the Devil of Saint Margaret's, the chilling specter I hope isn’t real.

I’ll need to suffer them all to get out of here, beginning with my Professor.

He is an enigma behind midnight-black eyes.

He doesn’t want to be here.

He loathes tutoring me.

But, sometimes, in the quiet of the classroom … I catch him staring at me.

And I feel the scorch of his gaze feather my skin.

He’ll eat me alive if I give him the chance.

But the darkness in me wants the lines between us to blur.

A habit and a veil won’t protect me within the Convent’s walls.

May God save my undeserving soul.

Author's Note: Hail Mary is a dark age-gap gothic romance featuring three male love interests and one female protagonist. It is recommended for those 18+ and features mature themes.
