Ya ya dai, ?
In the next few weeks, I will be sharing lessons I learned from hosting the Tourism Women Luncheon 2.0.
The first and most profound lesson is this...
Your community is one of your superpowers.
What do I mean?
The relationships you cultivate within your inner circle are very important, .
If done right, these relationships can open up opportunities that may have never come your way.
Like the popular saying goes...
Your network is your NET-WORTH
I truly understood the power of this statement while reflecting on the success of our event a few days ago.
Last year October/November, I started reaching out to women in my Nigeria Tourism network informing them about our upcoming TWL 2.0.
About 50+ registered to attend by December/January and I kept them updated via email.
I also reached out to some organizations to sponsor the event, but I was not getting any positive feedback.
So what did I do? I decided to reach out to my network soliciting sponsorship.
And the amount of love I got from my network can not be explained, *happy tears*
I had some sponsor a lady or more. Some sponsored food and drinks.
Some just contributed and asked me to use it to sort out things for the event.
Some of our guests paid for their ticket and that of their staff, and even went ahead to sponsor the event with cash and/or kind *sigh*
These kind gestures brought me to tears...happy and grateful tears *sniff*
Now, why did I get this kind of response from my network?
Let me share three (3) reasons why this was possible...
#1. Give And It Will Come Back To You: Luke 6:38. When you give freely to others, others will willingly give to you. From the day I started building my brand, I have been intentional about giving - both in cash and in-kind. If I can't buy your product or services, I will refer others to you by promoting you on my platforms, without expecting anything back. Give and support just because it is the right thing to do, .
#2. Check Up On Others: When someone within your network pops into your mind, please reach out and check upon them. Call, text, or send them an email just to say "Hi". Just that kind gesture will put you in their mind. Trust me, it is powerful, .
#3. Be There For Them: If anyone within your network is hosting an event or project, show up for them - physically or virtually. If you can't attend, share their events with others and encourage them to attend. Even if you don't share, send a word of encouragement to them. Support those in your network as much as you can, .
There are many ways to serve your network but these are the three (3) things I usually put to practice.
And bet me, these are some of the reasons why others will support you when you reach out to them for help.
Because you have been intentional with serving others, others will do the same for you.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - Matthew 7:12
That is why I say your community is one of your SUPERPOWERS, .
Serve them and they will serve you.
Next week, I will be sharing how I got Sterling Bank to sponsor TWL 2.0.
They are simple tactics to get big brands to want to support your project, no matter how small.
So look out for it next week.
Don't forget...
Life is short, live it to the fullest, *smiles*
