I hope this email finds you well and happy, and that you're able to find a little me-time and curl up with some good books! I am a few days early this quarter because I'm off on holiday to Australia very soon. I'm so excited! I haven't seen my son Ben, for five years, I just can't wait to hold him. I hope that you've all been able to relax with loved ones this summer.

Beach Rental by Grace Greene

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful, moving Christian Romance

Have tissues ready, the middle of the book is an emotional rollercoaster, and so is the happy ending!

Within three pages I knew I was going to love this book. Juli Cooke is a hard-working loner. Raised through different foster families and leaving school without an education, life is hard and she works two or more jobs to pay for a roof over her head.

Ben Bradshaw has wealth, good looks, family and friends. He also has a strong faith. He needs it, he’s recently found out he’s dying from cancer. When Ben proposes a business arrangement between him and Juli, she thinks he’s crazy. But in a matter of days, he’s convinced her. Upping sticks and walking away from her old life, she marries Ben and moves in with him.

Juli has to stand up to the resentment from Ben’s sister and his best friend Luke. But she made a deal, and nothing will get her to steer away from it.

This is such a beautiful story. Grace Greene does an excellent job and bringing her main characters to life and making them feel real. You care for them, you want them to reach a happy ending. I was in bits by the middle of the book and cried a few times afterward as well. I don’t want to say more and spoil the story, so I’ll just say I loved it, and I’m definitely going to be getting the next book in the series.

Absorbing from beginning to end, highly recommended for readers who love stories about special people.

5 out of 5 stars A gripping dystopian novel

Azalea Rose is no different from all the other gestates. Even though she’s been gifted a name by Mr. Northup, she’s still only a slave. She exists for one reason – to serve.

We never find out how Azalea spends the first seven years of her life, we assume it was in training to be Gestate – which is a cover-up word for slave. She’s been told her life has no value, that she is only here to serve her family. Outwardly, she accepts. Inwardly… that’s another story. The Gestates are designed so that they can’t lie, so Azalea knows that she is faulty because she lies every day!

In a few weeks' time, she will turn sixteen and will be removed from her current family and placed with people who will pay more for her. She doesn’t want to go, but she has no choice. She accepts and bows her head. But not long before she is due to taken away, she overhears her owner talking about the neighbor and how he is being dissolved. Turmoil erupts inside her, for Mr. Northup is the only person besides Hastings that has ever shown her kindness. Under cover of the largest hurricane ever seen, Azalea sets out to rescue Mr. Northup even though she knows it means her death.

Although the pace is purposely slow, this story is gripping from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one day! Thank goodness for days off, lol. Great characters and very easy to read. I can’t wait for book 2!

Totally gripping, highly recommended for dystopian and Sci-Fi fans.
