With sweating glasses of tea we can snap and fight, point fingers and laugh, greet the mailman with surface questions of how was your weekend and what will the weather be tomorrow?⁣ Meet me on the porch and I’ll show you the new way to needle point while you reminisce about shelling peas and we can wonder about how long it took to dip candles one hundred years ago. Together we will decide life was better than before also confirming we wouldn’t’ want to live at that time. Dentistry was a mess, after all.⁣ Meet me on the porch to help me try and remember how to strum a guitar while we forget every line but the chorus and end up talking about great grandad being a singer famous in all the county and how that must be where my sister got her talent from. We’ll agree it’s a shame she never tried to make it big and wonder aloud if we ever would were we the ones to have been given the talent.⁣ Which will bring us to searching YouTube for clips of the most surprising talent America ever did produce. And we will watch them on the porch, the symbol of American home ownership. Where a full, wrap around or really just a stoop. It’s the place where the milkmen brought the milk and the new neighbors dropped off casseroles. ⁣ Meet me there and we will be enveloped in the possibility of disagreeing with grace and leaving ego behind.
