First person vs Third Person

Hello
It’s spring, which seems to coincide with finding new books to read in my head. The weather, when cooperating, is usually pretty nice, made nicer with a glass of wine and a book in hand.
I’ve taken to scrolling through every Chirp newsletter (like Bookbub’s newsletter but for audiobooks) and downloading every book that sounds interesting. It isn’t always a hit in my book. In fact, one book I downloaded I ended up deleting at 58% because I just couldn’t stand the thought of spending another 3.5 hours on it. The protagonist wasn’t believed, and she never shut since we could hear her both thinking and speaking. Not my type.
But since it was $1.99, I didn’t feel bad about letting it go. On the other hand, I found V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic and that is absolutely fabulous! I also found John Conroy’s Belfast Diary: War As A Way of Life, which is also fabulous in a whole different way. If you don’t know, I lived in Northern Ireland only four years after the troubles officially ended. It was a significant year, but I have to admit I didn’t really understand what my classmates had lived through. When a house burned up one night on the main road of the town, I lived in and everyone shrugged; I found it difficult not to be puzzled. Twenty years later, I’m finally taking the time to understand what really went on other than the American news media perspective.
What are you reading? Do you stick with one genre all the time or do you diversify? I’m such an eclectic reader. I’d love to know that I’m not alone!

Book Sales and Promotions
First, the difference.
A book promotion is when an author offers a book for free. We do this to entice readers into our reading newsletter. When you download the free book, you are agreeing to be added to their newsletter. You can always unsubscribe, but please don’t claim it was spam. It wasn’t. Also, the best thing way to say thank you for the free book is to give a review on it if you liked it. It takes time and energy to write a book, but this is a tough market to get seen in, hence we give away books for free. But free doesn’t mean it took us any less time or energy.
Book sales are just that, a time when the author is selling their book, usually at a discount. Be sure to try the link that goes to their website, it is usually cheaper. Buying the book does not necessarily add you to their newsletter.
This week there is a Contemporary and Historical Women's Fiction Sale with over 30 authors. You can find the books here.
There are two promotions you can look through this week:
The Escape into History Promotion
and
Lacy's Women's Fction Promotion
But are you looking for romance instead? The slow burn kind?
Check out The Keys to Jericho by Ren Alexander.
Love ruined Jared Beckett. Now, it’s his turn to devastate.
