I lost the presents

Merry almost Christmas!

My eight-year-old let's me know every morning how many days are left until she get a Nintendo Switch. She's decided that regardless of whether or not Santa gives it to her, that surely there will be enough money given to her by grandparents for her to simply go out and buy it the following day.

She's quite the decisive third grader.

Unlucky for her, I've lost (ahem, SANTA has lost) two of her presents. TWO! I was taking the dog out for a walk on Wednesday while listening to a podcast when I saw an Amazon package. I remember ripping it open, seeing it was two things for her and then sort of shoving it, perhaps throwing it, somewhere. Obviously in a REALLY good place. Even I can't remember what said place was.

I've looked in all the usual and not so usual spots five times now. I can't help it. I know they're here. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this!

Some fun news: I finished second in a super short flash fiction contest from On The Premises. The story could be between 25-50 words and had to be about a holiday stress (real holiday or made up). You can read the winning flash fictions by clicking on the link. My second place one is below:

Beckley watched in silence as her mother zigzagged through the house, tagging and untagging items. It was Purging Day. Too little in the designated square and face accusations of greed. Place too much and pay the carbon fine for over-consumerism. Shaming was always swift and eagerly extended by neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Coffee Stains ebook giveaway. The winners have received a separate email with the instructions to download their book. Be sure to check your spam!

Remember that giving a review about a book you've read this year would be the perfect present for any author. I encourage you to do so next time you're on Goodreads or Amazon or wherever you prefer to buy your books.

Before we end this email, there is a fantasy and historical fiction promotion still going that you might want to check out. (Stock up on books for when you need to look being so they don't ask you to wash the dishes) Find that promotion here.
