want to focus better?

Distraction -> Death

A lack of focus is destructive.

Many humans in todays culture have the attention spans less than a goldfish.

If your distracted mind is not addressed it'll lead you to having an aimless and chaotic lifestyle, not fun.

Having a general idea of what you DON'T want in life helps you become more focused, usually distracted living will lead you to feel as if you're heading down the wrong road.

What road are you traveling down?

The closed mind leads to hell

Clarity on the alternative is amazing.

This can be used as fuel in so many different situations, you're inevitably going to face hardship during your journey.

This is expected and normal.

What we have to do is be prepared, to build ourselves into strong beings so that we can handle whatever comes our way.

You will have moments of doubt, confusion and despair and if you can remind yourself of how bad the alternative is, you won't quit on yourself.

See, I'm nowhere near what I know I can become, yet I have enough self belief to continue to persevere and work on myself as I can see the small wins beginning to compound in my favor.

We must learn how to enjoy this journey.

Don't do things you hate doing.

That being said, you have to remain open minded and be willing to try a bunch of new things.

So you actually don't know you hate something until you're truly positive you hate it.

Don't act like you know it all.

To improve, you must know you can do so

Learning how to enjoy your life is not as easy as it sounds.

Many people are stuck in a psychological prison.

They tell themselves "I'll be happy when I do ____"...

This type of thinking is toxic.

It traps you in a false delusion of the future, it takes you away from the moment.

See this is a fact, 85% of your worries never come true.

The vast majority go around worrying all day about BS that doesn't happen.

Another one is they create their own drama and make a much bigger deal about things then it has to be. This is not healthy on an emotional level.

The solution to enjoying life is to become more aware of your thoughts.

Yes, it's that simple.

Let me explain the critical piece.

Life is one big feedback loop.

You think shit thoughts, you take shit actions and then you feel like shit which leads you to think more shit thoughts.

The opposite is also true.

So the higher your awareness the sooner you catch negative thoughts and then can make the decision to begin thinking healthy thoughts and start taking healthy action.

Sometimes the feedback loop naturally breaks.

Sometimes people get so sick and tired of feeling horrible that they have a deep feeling to make changes.

This is how my journey began.

Balance acceptance with improvement

It's okay to be in a spot you don't enjoy.

Seriously, we all have seasons of life and sometimes the struggle is exactly what our spirit needs.

Reminder: What you desire is usually the opposite of what you truly need...

What I'm saying is don't get down on yourself, rather use your current circumstance as inspiration to work hard and to become more than you're right now.

Trust that with consistency and hard work over an extended period of time you will grow greatly.

If you're ready to take off, first look at your environment.

You may need to step back.

Second look at your habits and consumption, odds are there's much to improve.

Mental and nutritional consumption are so critical to clean up.

Less entertainment, no garbage in your mind, no garbage into your body.

At least adopt the 80 - 20 rule, where 80% of the time you're consuming the healthiest and most important things.

Once you fix environment and habits your success becomes inevitable, as long as you never give up.

The best part about the game of life is you get what you put into it, so you truly can do whatever you'd like.

It all comes down to are you willing to accept the trade offs to earn what you desire.

Are you truly committed?

Habits create reality

You can train your ability to concentrate many different ways.

The key is to realize what actions you're doing on a daily basis and what they are turning you into.

You're constantly changing.

Reality is, if you're not improving you're likely wasting your time.

See every single day you're making votes for who you want to become.

If you choose to do nothing but consume entertainment throughout your days, you'll end up quite mediocre as this is what many humans do.

Now, if that's what you'd like, test it out.

I know if I were to do that I would feel absolutely miserable.

A great skill you can work on is anticipating regret, knowing how a decision will make you feel without having to make the mistake.

Of course this involves making the mistake previously and learning from the lesson.

You'll be taught the same lessons over and over in different forms until you've actually grasped the learning.

In general you train your focus by channeling your attention on one thing at a time.

So any sort of activity which involves your undivided attention is great for this, notice your thoughts too.

If you're not thinking and simply flowing through the task, this is what you want.

If you're stressing about it, this makes the work much more difficult.

To stress less remind yourself that stressing does you no good, so no point in getting trapped by it.

Play the most meaningful games

The danger of living distracted is that you're hit by the train of regret.

You don't see it now, yet the day inevitably arrives when you realize you could've done much more with your life.

We don't want this.

The most common regret people have on their death beds is that they didn't live a life true to themselves.

This means they let society and culture dictate their life, rather than trusting their gut and flowing with their intuition.

They allowed culture to program values into their mind, rather than choosing their own values.

They played shallow materialistic games and never did the deeper, more meaningful work of knowing thyself.

When you get to know yourself you realize you can work at the materialistic game while knowing thyself.

We are in this world, we might as well play the game.

To build a life that you don't regret, now this is the route we must take.

This involves being detailed in the design of our reality, meaning that we are the opposite of distracted.

We are deliberate in decision making.

Strategic in our thinking.

Conscious of our emotions.

Nobody will ever be capable of doing the work for you and to do the work and learn how to enjoy it, I think that's the secret to a great life.

Learning how to enjoy the meaningful work.

Test this out

So, to practically become more focused there are key staples you'll want to be aware of.

Usually it all starts with removing things, then we start to replace the negative things we removed with positive habits.

First, ask what are the things I know I shouldn't be doing? Seriously ponder.

I'd remove:

-checking of social media / phone (do it much less)

-playing useless apps / video games

-consuming entertainment for fun

Listen, I know those things may be nice for you, I've been there.

The truth is, they're just holding you back from using your energy in a more meaningful and powerful way. You are meant to build, to create something great.

In real life.

I appreciate you

It's all a choice.

Living distracted may be easy now, yet it'll make you miserable in the future.

Getting your life in order will be hard now, yet it'll make your future way better.

I know they're both difficult routes.

I'd rather do the work while I'm young and create a great foundation so that the future storms will be easier to get through.

Which hard are you going to choose?

Are you surviving or thriving?

Are you all in on you?
