It's Spooky Season Which Means Spooky Games

On The Desk

Did you see the announcement about Dance With Darkness? The anthology I’ve been hyping up is finally here and ready for pre-order. If you’re a fan of fantasy romance, this is for you.

My story within the anthology features an Oni Lord and a Yuuki Onna (snow woman) that I think you all will love.

Around The Desk

It’s spooky season, which means Phasmophobia and Demonologist. For those unaware, these are games built around ghost hunting. However, it’s closer to Supernatural than Ghost Hunters because the ghosts reveal themselves, interact far more with the environment, and will sometimes hunt you so you’re forced to hide from the ghost.

About The Sacrifice:

I gave the book 4 stars. There were a few editing mistakes that caused me to pause. Mostly because there was a word missing in the sentence

But I don’t care as much about that as others do. Especially when it only happened maybe 3 times in the entire book.

What I care about is story content.

The story was original and interesting compared to what I’d read before this. A desolate world with people who lost parts of their souls, including the main character.

Her love interests are all aggressive men who are a bit more on the sadistic side of things. But because she’s never felt touch in any sense because of her powers, she’s extremely touch-starved and they’ve been the only thing she’s ever felt.

The more aggressive sides of the story I didn’t care much for, but that seems to be what makes dark romance a dark book. Whereas grimdark, which is what I love to write, is more about grit and morally gray characters.

Now that I’m done with The Sacrifice, I’ve switched to a physical book to read. It’s Seven Deadly Shadows. It’s a Seven Samurai, or Magnificent Seven, retelling in modern-day Japan where the main character must recruit Yokai to her aid. It’s been a fun ride so far and a good palette cleanser.
