Would you side with a villain if they’re the main character?
What if the antagonist is just as much of a villain?
That’s what I love about grimdark fantasy. So often, the hero isn’t much of a hero just like the villains.
That’s why I love writing about them too. Whether they’re assassins, rogues, or people down on their luck and ready to take their lives back.
These ideas were what helped me create the story of Shizu in Shade of the Kitsune.
Shizu was the darkness that crepes up on children who were too young to experience the darkness of the world and then left to thrive in it to survive. She becomes that very darkness to create a light of her own.
You can start reading about her on Kindle Vella if you’re in the US or on Ream for those outside the US.
