The business advice I gave a baker

Hello
Something funny happened two days ago, on Black Friday. Before now if I wasn’t a Cake Business Coach and a heart-centered instructor, I would have been very angry, but I realized that this was a moment where I can pull in my weight to help.
I was busy in my DM responding to enrollment enquiries and equally onboarding students, then a message came in.
I thought it was still one of the enquiries that needed attention.
when I opened it, lo and behold! A baker sent me her Black Friday offer for me to come and buy. (Just calm down first, don’t rush into judgment mode… remember, we listen, we don’t judge..lol).
I opened the offer, viewed it, went to her page to see if it’s something I can buy.
it was cake slices. I checked her address; this was were I almost got furious! And this is where some of us miss it in creating, targeting and marketing to our target audiences.
she is far far away in Ikeja whereas I am in far far away east where I recently moved to.
How can I order cake slice and get it immediately?
How much is the cake slice?
How much will the delivery be?
Won’t the cost of delivery be more than the cost of the slice?
Will the slice get to me in one piece?
All these questions ran amok in my head and I thought of what to do, so I sent her the message below:
“I want to give you a little business advice but….
For now I am wishing you mega sales.”
She responded and pleaded with me to give her the advice, and here’s the business advice I gave her for her next sales.
“You sent me a DM of your Black Friday offers. Beautiful!
But you see, I won’t be able to buy because:
I am very far from you
I am just coming across your brand for the first time.
I am not even in Lagos.
I am far away in the east.
So how do I buy your cake slice?
How would you deliver something I want to eat now.
Here’s my advice:
1. Have a list of customers that have been buying from you within your area.
2. Send them this offer with a free gift or a tiny discount and do all you can to push them to buy.
3. Ask them to refer you to people they know, you can offer them referral bonus
4. Run a short 3-5 days ad on this offer targeting only audience within your location.
5. Post this offer on your WhatsApp status and DM everyone who viewed it and beg them to buy, yes beg them to buy. Especially if they live within your area for easy and quick delivery to reduce cost of delivery.
6. Send WhatsApp broadcast message to your list both customers and prospective customers”
After reading through she exclaimed “WOW! GREAT!”and was very appreciative of the support I gave her.
My dear sugar friend, , marketing is not hard but we miss the mark when we are not even visible to the right audience. It’s like boxing in the air without aiming at anything in particular.
Did you learn something from the above?
December, the last month of 2024 is here! PUSH! PUSH! and PUSH your business to be visible to the right buying audience.
Welcome to the month of celebration.
I am rooting for you.
sugar hugs,
Coach Miriam
