Soooooo…. Guess what?

That capital B word came outta nowhere and totally threw me for a loop!

No, not that B word. The other B word. BURNOUT!

Yup. Un-freaking-fortunately, I’m currently living the Solaris saga titled, Revenge Of The Epic Burnout.

Jokes aside, burnout is no joke! ;) For real. When it hits, it hits. Hard. Like really hard. Really, really hard. Okay, wait, I said no jokes but, apparently, I can’t help myself.

So, I know I’ve been MIA and I’m very, very, verrryyy sorry about that! I had all these fun Deacon’s Star book release party shenanigans planned and then… *farting noises*

Some of you may know this isn’t my first encounter with burnout (please, for all that is holy, let this be the last though!) and that my delay in responses or lack of presence on social media isn’t because I was abducted by aliens (Although, how cool would that be? The good, sexy kind of aliens though, of course! ;) ) and it’s not because I don’t love you (I love and appreciate you so so so very much!!!).

It’s because, I just literally… can’t.

For real, I was at a point (I say that in the past tense as if it still isn’t happening… ha!) where if my phone buzzed with a message notification, I would get hit with another fresh shot of anxiety.

So, I did the only (drastic) thing I could think of… airplane mode 24/7.

Okay, maybe not 24/7 but like 23/6. And that rare, precious time I was connected to the internet was just so I could download another book to escape into.

CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH FOR THE GIFT OF BEING ABLE TO ESCAPE INTO ROMANCE BOOK WORLDS FULL OF HAPPY EVER AFTERS?!

Speaking of, I’ve been deep in the writing cave and creating something so very exciting! I’m not going to give any spoilers (hello, it’s me, Miss Anti-Spoilerista), but I will say the writing cave has been Such. A. Blessing during this period of burnout and existing in this sort of “void” kinda head space.

I was worried that this capital B would dry up the storytelling well but I’m happy to say it hasn’t. In fact, writing has been a big part of the burnout recovery protocol for me (yay!). I love connecting with the characters that show up in my head and diving into their supernatural stories, worlds, and friendships!

Speaking of, I can’t wait to share this latest creation with you! It’s not quite ready for the world yet but it’s definitely cooking up something otherworldly. (*wink wink*)

And there’s more that’s been marinating in the writer’s cave too: (Yes, more food analogies because, duh, it's me and I love food.) the next installments in the Orion’’s Order series! OO Book 4—the title of which hasn’t officially been announced yet but if you spy with your little eye somewhere in Deacon’s Star, you’ll find it! ;)—has a completed first draft. And then OO Book 5 has decided to finally show its face after a mini vaca—hey, even the characters need some time to rest and play too!

Oh, and Deacon’s Star audiobook is being recorded by the amazing narrator, Jarman Day, with his sexy voice as we speak! Not ETA yet but I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
