This book took thirteen months and every emotion

Well, we're halfway through the year and I have no idea where it's gone. On the way to the airport to pick up our son from his swing, I was talking to my hubby about how fast time is going. I think this weekly loop of dropping off and picking up our eldest son makes the weeks whiz by faster than usual.

Apart from that, it's been very wet and very cold where we live. We've had a couple of record-breaking storms hit our coast, creating flooding and damage to homes and property. We've been fortunate to avoid damage so far, and I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way.

My mumma heart has felt full in recent months as I see both of our boys thriving. Our eldest is going from strength to strength in his new job, and our youngest son is living his best life as he comes into his final semester at university.

Yes, I needed shouty caps and all of those exclamation marks because, honestly, I didn't think it would ever happen. This story took me thirteen months from the time I typed the first sentence to the time I typed the last. Quite the marathon.

This was tough. I wanted it to be deep. I wanted it to be as authentic as possible for a fictional story. I wanted more from myself as a writer, so I pushed hard. And I'm thrilled with how their story has turned out. I think you're going to go through every emotion alongside them, so be prepared for all the feels. The disappointment. The hurt. The love.

I know you've waited a long time for this book, and I appreciate your patience more than you'll ever know. While I put the manuscript through its rounds and rounds of edits, here's a little something to tide you over! I hope you're as excited as I am!

An emotional, steam-filled contemporary romance about a marriage on the brink of falling apart and how they eventually find their way back to each other through love, hard work, and determination.

I finished the Like Us series by Krista and Becca Ritchie this month, and this last couple, Donnelly and Luna, would have to be my next favourite couple behind Maximoff and Farrow. This was a really strong finish to the series. If you love a Hero who's had a terrible upbringing, I mean absolutely awful, but drags himself out of it at a young age and becomes an awesome human being, then Donnelly is for you.

I grabbed The Two of Us because I saw it recommended in a reading group when someone was looking for a tearjerker. I strongly believe that what one person finds tragic, another doesn't. It all depends on your personal experiences. This was a little sad, but I wouldn't say it was a tearjerker. But I think it just didn't hit the pinch points of my life experiences.

North Country by K.A. Tucker was incredible. I could not put this book down. I love all of her books, and I highly recommend her to anyone who's looking for contemporary romance, because you can't go wrong. This story follows Logan and Emery from teenagers to adults. Logan is caught up in a situation on his 18th birthday that lands him behind bars for twenty years, and when he returns home, his love is now the local Staff Sergeant. Logan is book boyfriend perfection.
