Why some retirees still feel uneasy

Mar 15, 2026 3:01 am

Hi ,

There was once a time I spoke with someone who had accumulated nearly $800,000 in savings.

By most measures, that sounds like a good position.

But what surprised me was this.

He still felt uneasy about retirement.

Not because he didn’t have money.

But because he didn’t know how long it would last or whether his investments were structured properly.

This is something I see quite often.

The real stress in retirement planning isn’t just about how much money someone has.

It’s about whether their portfolio is built to support a lifetime of income.

I shared a short reflection about this here:

Sometimes the biggest gap in retirement planning is not the amount saved, but the structure behind it.

Best regards,

Zest
