From the Editor's Desk:
*Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day . . .*
Hi! Pardon my singing, but it is a beautiful morning. It's in the low 60s and a breeze is blowing the curtains. I can't decide if I feel like trying to get a whole lot done today, or if I feel like doing nothing on my list. ;) But, since I have things I need to do, maybe I'll feel like getting a lot done.
Weather Report:
I'm loving this weather! Cool nights but not frosts yet. The days sometimes get into the 80s, but usually it's the low 80s. Sunshine, some rain, breezes, and fallen nuts. Some trees around here are starting to change color. There are busy squirrels, bluejays, crows, and other critters all getting ready for winter.
"Genius Burns":
Crickets chirp
I really and truly haven't written anything this week. Except in my journal which I write in every day.
Project Prognosis:
Let's just say that life is busy. :)
I've done a lot of work on my website this week. It's needed updated since I published 4 Christmas stories last December. :P Yeah, they never made it onto my site. And then I added the 3 Woodbreak books and they didn't get added either. But now I have updated the Bookshelf page and it has ALL my books. Including the new ones that aren't published. And all the pages that have individual books have been updated or made. I just need to get all the Christmas stories, the Pocket books, the Short stories, and such updated or created. Maybe I'll work on that today.
To Work:
I got a phone call on Thursday afternoon from the Jasper County Clerk's office where I worked in July and will be working in October. They wanted to know if I could possibly come in next week even for a few hours each day. They are swamped. People coming in, phones that keep ringing, and the filing that is about to overflow the basket. So I'm going to be working 4 hours Mon-Thurs next week. And then I'll start my full days of work the following week. I'm sure it will be quite different from the July work days which were slow and quiet.
Read Another Page Publishing:
I ordered my proof copies of Lake Wood, Saving Miss Christmas, and What Tommy Didn't Know. They are supposed to arrive on Tuesday! I can't wait to see them in paperback!
Babysitting:
Guess what? We babysat the kids! That's three weeks in a row! Only last evening James was at a piano lesson and then a birthday party. (I don't know if this was James's first real piano lesson or not.) And we didn't have Kinsley. But the others were here. We rode bikes in the parking lot for a little bit, then we left Grant and Kailyn at home, and I took the rest of the kids down to the bike path. We rode it all the way to the end of the path and back. We played outside, at supper, looked at the three houses that are being built (they only have the foundations), and worked on a school project with Krista.
Adventures with Wildlife:
On Wednesday evening, my best friend and I had just finished walking and had stopped at her house to finish our conversation. I was on the sidewalk and she was on the steps. Suddenly, two squirrels raced down the dogwood tree near us chasing each other. They raced right beside us. One squirrel stopped on the sidewalk about a foot from me. I told him hello, and he turned and looked at me like "Who are you and where did you come from?" He scampered a little farther away before running back to the tree and disappearing into the branches.
Book Nook:
Again, not much reading, however, I am going to promote a book, and you should go check it out. :) It's a collection of Thanksgiving stories. I've gotten to beta read one story and really liked it. Each story in this collection is written by a different author and is inspired by another book. Go check out A Very Bookish Thanksgiving! It releases next month! We really need more stories about other holidays, don't you think?
Farewell:
So, here we are. At the end of another Joplin Journal. Sarah is probably going to be sewing today. Mom is washing the breakfast dishes, and I don't know where Dad is. He was outside in his shed earlier, but I don't know what his plans are. It would be a beautiful day to work outside. Anyway, I hope you have a lovely weekend. Enjoy the final days of September. Uh, did I just say final days of September? Yikes!
