Joplin Journal Volume 10-6, Issue 2

From the Editor's Desk:

Two Joplin Journals in a row! What is happening? Do I have too much time on my hands? Am I just bursting with news? Since neither of those seems right, I'll go with "I have time and don't know what next Saturday will be like, so I'll write today."

Weather Report:

The beginning of the week was really nice. The mornings were perfect for walking and Sarah and I took advantage of that. Then things would get warmer. We've had some rain, and some sunshine, and lots of humidity. The grass is growing and I'll have to mow on Monday. I could have mowed this morning, but I didn't want to. So I didn't. :)

"Genius Burns":

This story is still moving along. While I may not be writing 2k every day, I'm getting at least 1k every day that I write. I am now over 27k for this book. I have to keep it going at least 3k more words, but after that it can end whenever it wants to. This story is so different than all the other Woodbreak books, and vastly different and improved from the first version.

Project Prognosis:

Let's see how my projects are coming this week.

  • Work on Blog Posts – This feels like a never ending project. I guess it really is. I don't know how those people do it who post every day, or at least a few times a week! I have a hard enough time posting once a week!
  • Publish my Writing Camp Journal – I think KDP and I finally have an understanding about my other camp journals. Now I'm just waiting for them to approve them. Hopefully today.
  • Prepare to teach Children's Church tomorrow – I haven't finished getting ready, but that's on my to-do list for today.
  • Work on my Name List – Just finished reading "Finding Joy" and adding names to my list.

Spring 100:

I finished!!!! This morning I just walked my 100th mile! I'm actually surprised I finished just over a week before the deadline. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. And since next week is supposed to be hot summer (90s during the days and 70s at night), I'm glad I finished.

Visitors:

I haven't seen Amber & Stephen and the kids since they came back up from TX, except waving to them out a window one night when they went walking and I was already ready for bed, but I should see them at least a little today. Amber, Angela and I are planning on going out for ice cream this afternoon.

Babysitting:

The kids haven't been over this week. Krista is actually at Whispering Winds Bible Camp for staff training half of this week and next. Then she'll work in the kitchen one week and attend camp as a camper one week. (I don't remember if she works or attends first.) This is the first time she'll be gone for more than a week without her family.

Travels:

On Thursday Mom, Sarah, and I headed up to KC to help my aunt go through some things in her basement and clean some things out. Grandpa was over and we all had lunch together. It was fun and so good to see her again.

Girls Evening Out:

Hmm, I guess I could call it an evening out. It was mostly outside, but it was at someone's house. One of the young ladies at church just got an ice cream maker and invited the other unmarried young ladies (I think I still qualify, right?) over for ice cream and talk. Sarah had too much sewing to do, so I hitched a ride with someone who lives really close and we went out together. There were six of us, and it was just a good time of talking and laughing, and being together.

The Music Stand:

If you want to listen to the kids play bells, you can do that HERE. (I think I have the link set to start at the right place.)

The small orchestra/instrument ensemble will practice again tomorrow after church. We have piano, two trombones, two trumpets, three flutes, and four violins. It's so much fun!

KDWC:

Working on some little details for writing camp.

Sewing Room:

Right now Sarah is sewing some fancy dresses two sisters wanted just because. No event or anything, but they are taking a while because it's two different fabrics and isn't want Sarah normally makes. But they are really pretty.

Read Another Page:

You can now order your kindle or paperback copy of Lessons from Liberty!

Teacher's Lounge:

I'm still waiting for the final papers to be turned in.

Book Nook:

I really haven't read that much this week. I tried two books on my kindle and deleted both because I wasn't interested in them. But here is what I have read: Stephen Mitchell's Journey (love this story), Ember (it was pretty good until the end and then–nope). Not sure what I'm going to read tomorrow.

Farewell:

And that brings this Joplin Journal to a close. I should work on some other things, and find out when Amber, Angela and I are going out. I hope you have a great weekend!
